I use ethyl maltol but it doesn’t sweeten as much as it helps meld the flavors together. It adds a little sweet and it seems to soften any chemical of perfumy flavors a flavoring may have. I use very little because too much will ruin a juice. I add crystals to my juice and I don’t measure it I just add a pinch which seems to work nicely for my needs.

TFA Sweetener (sucralose), CAP Super Sweet (sucralose at 2X concentration of TFA, so use half as much), or Stevia (careful about additional ingredients. Buy from Nicotine River, Nude Nicotine, or One Stop DIY shop)(use at ¼ to ½ strength of TFA). I personally do NOT use EM as a sweetener.

I use CAP supersweet when I need it, but seriously, like a drop or two (per 30 ml). Usually if I want to sweeten a mix I will also add a bit of marshmallow, merengue or cotton candy, to add a few flavor notes. I use supersweet since sucralose is really my go to artificial sweetener, I know how it works, I trust it for taste. Haven't tried EM as I have heard it can mute flavors and also gunk the coil faster.

I have found that as my taste buds changed, I need less sweetener in my mixes but there are times a small amount is called for.

Fozzy, does stevia taste bitter in your mixes? I have avoided it for that reason (and in general) be interested in how it tastes vaped?

Anna
I got away from tfa sweetener and others to avoid the gunking of coils they caused. I first tried pyure but even stored in a fridge it goes bad (gets cloudy and black traces/strings in it) quickly so I switched to Now Foods Glycerite Stevia which is mostly VG. I don't think it is as sweet as using the TFA I used to use but I also try and use as little as possible. I don't notice any bitterness with it but I mostly only use it with fruit dominant recipes and I never go above 0.5% so far.

There are some threads on other vape forums about stevia and the different types you can try (or make yourself), from other users that have tried the various types/brands and done comparisons, that can probably offer better opinions on the different types of stevia and any bitterness. IIRC some use stevia with or without some (citric?) acid depending on if their recipe is fruit dominant or not but I forget the specifics of which to use when.

I know you were asking Foz about this; but I am going to .... in with my :2c: anyway (Shocker! I know!).
I have never picked up on any bitter notes when using stevia. Even though it is more potent; it is not as "in-your-face" as sucralose. I guess I could say I find it a bit more subtle. It is less like dumping a spoon of refined sugar in something; and more like having a natural sweetness to it.

I think the problem with many stevia offerings is the extra additives and stabilizers that are found in many of the food/beverage products. Nicotine River offers a pretty clean version (stevia, water).

I don't know if the EM really sweetens it up much if any. I only use around 1 drop per 10 ML of liquid. It seems to add a nice smooth mouth feel in some juices.

Marshmallow definitely adds sweet but also a mouth feel.

Capella Super sweet I tried, didn't care for it...
