Ive had switch trouble too. Have to change them out all the time. but I /hubby don't know anything about resistors or protection circuits. It would be nice to have a how to. I would appreciate it lots. What you need, where to get it, and how to install it. LOL Basically making it for me. LOL When the box works, it works great for me !!

Wondering what switches you guys and gals are using on your mods... I need a very small switch that wont misfire.. The small ones from madvapes are junk.. I have also used simular ones from radio shack they are also junk...

I wouldn't say "junk". What I've noticed is the small switches are typically rated for .5 amps. All the mods I've seen are working with 3amp. The one you'd linked is 2amps. They may be junk in that they don't hold up under a load they're not rated for but that's hardly the fault of the switch.

What you want is a switch rated for >=3amps.

Here is a picture of the switch I posted above in a mod I made. It's not red, but it's not very big either. This box is 1.97 x 1.38 x .79.
I am currently using one of these in an Eclipse tin with an 18650 & a booster circuit putting out a constant 5v. They have not failed me yet & only cost $.35 each.

I suppose it would be possible to change the color. A 16340 battery fits tight in this mod.

Wow sci thats a great looking little box does the 5volt make the juice taste burnt like a LR 510 atty does on a 3.7 device... I have a learning curve on the LR 510 attys

The quest for a good switch is one of the biggest parts to any mod. The ones on the Puffer and I believe the Chuck are good switches for what they are, but they have a big issue with quality control. Push Button Switch -- Black

For ten switches that work flawlessly you will find two that are destine to break quickly. I found by checking the switches action you can often find the bad ones but often is not good enough. The problem is manufacturing defects from the switch builder...

Another thing to remember is that's a very common design made by more than one manufacturer. I've had good luck with the ones I've used (not from MV). The main disadvantage is that they may be too easy to activate, need quick soldering, and are pretty fragile. They don't take drops and pocket pressures too well. Seeing as they can be found for as low as 25¢ you can't expect much QC.

Concerning 5v - as long as you keep enough juice in there, it tastes good. Puts out more vapor, also. I use cartos & the first hint of a burnt taste, I swap or refill it. Right now, I'm getting around 4 hours out of a 510 carto(the ones with the soft tip) before needing a refill(I hit it a lot). It's not empty, I can put it on a 3.7 PV & get another hour or so out of it.

Ok, for a 3V mod, I have to use a tactile switch. So I need a mosfect. I will do what dreams n chains suggest, but since I already have most of the pieces except of the mosfet, I'd like to know if the one in ratshack can work.

Nothing wrong with RS parts per se, as long as they fit our needs. A bit over-priced though.

That mosfet is not well suited for our uses due to the Gate Threshold Voltage which is: min 2.0 - max 4.0.

This one is a better choice, it's range is 1.0 - 2.5V.
