Just wondering if those of you who smoke both kinds of cigarettes if your lungs have a hard time adjusting back and forth between the two. I notice that if I smoke either for an extended period and then switch to the other, I hack my guts up on both. I wouldn't think that the ecig vapor would cause much problems...but after a few real cigs the change is pretty noticeable. Maybe it's just my lungs protesting at not having their precious marlboro tar...

I have e-smoked for 3 weeks and 4 days. I started from 22 real cigs a day, went down to 12 in the first week, then 8 for 4 days, and I have not exceeded 4 or 5 in 13 days. The real cigs still taste better for me, but I have no problem switching. What I do is vaping from when I wake up to 4 PM, when I smoke my first of the day. I then sometime smoke a second in the afternoon (not lately, though), and then smoke 3 after dinner. Perhaps, with this rythm, my lungs know what to expect and are not bothered.
IN general, I have not felt much in the way of changes from smoking less or from vaping (I vape low or medium, and smoke Marlboro Lights 100s).

I switch between both still. At work, I don't even realize that I'm vaping. When I go out to the "smoke shack" for my break, I try to vape for a while first. Then I smoke. There is still something about smoking (maybe the thickness of the smoke) that I miss. When I smoke I real sig, I crave the e-cig flave. When I smoke an e-cig, I want the taste of the real. So, they're neck and neck for me. Switching hasn't made me the least bit sick or feeling "off." I'm used to both right now.
Tomorrow I want to try to vape exclusively or for half the day. I have to keep reminding myself, "It's not a cig replacement. It's not taking anything from me. I'm getting what I got before." I need to mentally tell myself, I'm still smoking. Don't make such a big deal. It's just like switching brands. That's where I think my downfall is. I vape and promise myself real cig rewards for going so long with a real cig. That's just ridiculous. Vaping isn't that much different. I just need to wrap my head around it.

I can't make posts on this board yet so I'll just leave this here, It's on the n00b forum as well...

Howdy,

I received my first e-cigarette 1 1/2 weeks ago and am enjoying it quite a bit. I've been using it at school/during classes, and other than one time when someone called the campus police on me, it's only been met with positive reviews. I was asked at the end of one of my classes today, by a staff member at our my schools news station, if I'd been interested, after she had brought it up as a story idea.

Anyone have any ideas on what to bring up (besides the fact that it's a totally safe, smoking cessation device...jk...)? When the police (two of them!) came up to me about smoking in the building, the first was totally impressed. I took it apart, described to him how it worked, blew it in his face so he could(n't) smell it, the whole nine yards. The other seemed ...... that I was wasting their time. I put it away and had talked with some people in our student govt. office after the incident, and they couldn't think of any reason it should be an issue on campus.

To suppliers, anyone have any merchandise they want shown off, I'd be glad to sponsor it, assuming they go ahead with the interview :p I can be easily swayed!:thumb:

here is the link to the school's television show, sorry I can't post full links yet, nor can I post on the non-n00b board yet..

I have no problem switching between the two. I stopped for the first three weeks and used nothing but the ecig. When I encountered operating difficulties and was left with only one working digital cig I had to rely on real one's to make up for the lack. I've been coughing like mad but I think that is more a product of some medicine I've been taking which lowers your immune response, and makes you feel insanely euphoric; Wow! I get off the meds this week, I'll let you know if the coughing continues. May just be a by product of normal cessation though. It's part of the bodies cleansing process when you stop to cough repeatedly.

I smoked my ecig for a week after I first got it ... then gave up since I wasnt getting enough nicotine and bought myself some baccy ... a few hours later I could feel my lungs giving me gyp so I bit the bullet and shelled out for some TW liquid.

Now that it has arrived I doubt I'll ever buy any baccy again .. it just hasnt got the same hit as the TW liquid ... admittedly I get a bit of a numb throat every now and then, but that's NOTHING compared to the coughing that ocuured after I tried the baccy for a day ... and to think I used to wake up EVERY morning feeling like that!!!!

Got my first e-cig last Thursday, finished off the remaining half a pack of real cigarettes I had that night, then vaped exclusively until Monday, when my e-cig died on me. Bought a pack of real cigarettes Tuesday morning to hold me over until my new e-cigs came in today (Thursday). No problems switching between the two. I feel a tiny bit cloudy-headed not smoking real ones but the e-cig is close enough to them for me that I do not plan on buying analog smokes anymore.

This time I'm prepared, though, as I have two new starter kits and just ordered two more batteries and two more atomizers for backup. Plenty of liquid, too!

It's nice to be able to take a quick couple puffs of the e-cig in my office at work without having to run downstairs, although I still do go out every couple hours for a short break. Girlfriend is happy too since I don't reek of smoke all the time...

Oh, and this is a great forum, lots of really helpful information from knowledgeable and experienced users to guide the newbie. Suppliers I've found through here are exemplary!

Rochdale...sadly.
Ive just done the same thing, bought some baccy as I felt I was missing something, needless to say, a few real cigs down the line, I realise what it was I was missing, a cough and a lung ful of phlegm...nice.:(

As I said, I switch every day, and have no problems. I was wondering, though, whether it's possible that those who vaped a lot may have changed their way of inhaling, maybe going deeper, and trying that on a real one makes it unpleasant. I still find the taste of combusted tobacco more satisfying (sigh...), but I definitely like e-smoking better now than when I first started, especially with all the flavors that do not pretend to be tobacco. If I can stick with 4-5 a day, I'll be happy. If I can go down further, I'll be happier....

Erbal, what is TW liquid? I like my current supplier because his liquid has been completely complient with my cig, but I've seen some really cool flaves that he doesn't offer. I'm hesitant to buy elsewhere though. What is TW and have you (or anyone else) had any probs with it clogging or breaking the atomizers in 901s?

Before I got my ecig, I smoked ~25 cigs a day. The ecig arrived on friday(it's monday as I write) and during the first day I smoked 7,5 cigs(from which 3 were before I dressed up and go to the post office for the ecig), on saturday it was 4,5 sunday 5,5 and today I smoked 7. Thats not what I was expecting(I wanted to quit immediately), but the ecig IS different, and I miss the real smoke(just the taste, and 'facture'), but no cravings. The first two days were hard for my lungs(especially the ecig) but now I got used to the vapor and it's a lot better. I do smoke when I'm going somewhere(tho I try to limit myself as much as I can) cause of the size and weight of the ecig(dse901). It's not as handy as the real cig. I prefer to vape when I can comfortably sit, and enjoy the vape. I like to 'play' with the smoke, like circles and anything that comes into my mind, I just love it(that's why it was so hard for me to quit smoking using traditional NRTs). I also plan to do few videos of me switching from analog cigs to ecig as it goes. If I'll have the time I'll do that tonight, but I have a very important exam tomorrow, so it can be postponed. And one thing the ecig can't replace the analog cigs for me is after eating. It's just not the same, and a cig after a dinner is a blessing :)

I guess my experience was a bit different. I was down from 1-2 packs a day of regular cigs, to about 2-5 regular cigs in the first week, then none. I just enjoyed the e-cig taste and feel better.

A week later I tried regular cigs again and it tasted like I was licking an ashtray. Haven't had one since, and don't think I could switch back and forth without some adjustment anymore.

The only thing I do miss from the reg. cigs is the "hit" from them... you really get it in you. Ecigs wake me up just fine however, as I normally sit down with a USB powered one in the morning with my wake up coffee.

For me I have no trouble switching back and forth...I might gag on the first one a little bit going either way, but it's not much and if I'm frequently swapping up I can handle both simultaneously.

I started about 3 weeks ago, and within my first week I had an entirely cigarette free day. I mainly find myself switching back to real cigarettes if I'm stressed. First reason for this is that e-cigs are somewhat more finicky than real cigs (burning taste of a dry atomizer, having to draw more deliberately, etc.), and I'm just not in the mood to **** with it. Second reason is that the whole "lighting" ritual of a real cig gives a psychological "bump" before the nicotine really properly builds up from smoking it. I've only smoked for 6 years and that "bump" is still very strong for me.

Also, real cigarettes are more measureable in terms of nicotine than an e-cig is. I'm bad about taking 3 or 4 drags off my e-cig and then putting it down, while with a real cigarette I do have a very clear "end point" to smoke to.
