Switching from 510 to 510-T, with some problems

Hey all,

I've been happily using a generic 510 that I bought from timeeast.net for several months now (280 mAh, manual button, always using cartomizers). I wanted a bigger battery, but instead of just getting another 510 battery, I decided to upgrade and get a Riva 510-T from Liberty Flights.

I just got it today, and the manual says to charge it for 8 hours before use, so I'm still waiting for that. But I wanted to try out the tank system, so I filled one of the tanks, and screwed the new tank/atty combo onto one of my old 510 batteries. The atty got hot, but it didn't produce any vapor whatsoever. So I'm wondering - does the tank/atty combo just not work with the old batteries, or am I doing something wrong? It seems like if the atty is heating up it should be producing vapor, but it wasn't.

Is it possible I broke the new atomizer by trying to use it with the old battery? I just assumed that since they're both 510s they would be compatible. I'm pretty sure I filled the tank correctly - I just popped off the rubber cover and filled it up about 80% full. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Any tips for using the 510-T would be greatly appreciated. I'm hoping the tank system will produce vapor as nicely as my regular 510 with Boge cartos does - that way I can just completely switch to the 510-T, and put the old 510 on the shelf as a backup.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I used a EgO 510-T for a few months, but found to many problems. Mainly leaking. I would assume as long as your atty is heating up it should be creating vapor. When you insert the tank, especially the first time, make sure it gets punched all the way in. When I say punched, I mean the tanks usually have the port sealed and it gets punched out by the atty the first time you insert it. It seems tough to insert and you should hear a click. The lip or ridge around the tank should be flush with the atty. Also, make sure to give it a good twist left and right to make sure that port is opened up good so that the liquid makes it to the atty. You should only have to do this with new tanks. Also, I started to "prime" my atty with just a couple of drops before connecting the T-tank. Seemed to help. Anyway, I hope this helps and you get it figured out. As with anything new, you will have to go through a little trial and error to figure it out.

I have been using the eGo-C T for about a month and a half and they are tricky and not all tubes/bases are the same. I have three tube base set-ups and one feeds like a fire hose, another just about perfectly, and the third is stingy and take a lot of pre-puffy to load the atty. I tried various tanks, caps and switched bases and it did not seem to make a difference. I think it has to do with how close the base and atty is to the tube and is affected by tiny difference in the length of the tube, or how far the threads go in and position the base in relation to the tank. I have also found that while you do want to clean the battery connections, you don't want to completely dry out the tube, base, atty set up. It kind of heals itself after a while and feeds better and leaks less. That being said you always have some leaking especially when the tube gets low or gets jostled by trying to carry the set up with you. If it gets too warm it leaks and if you leave it filled for a long time and don't use it, it will leak. It works and it works well once you learn how to use it, but it is messy and requires constant cleaning. While the battery performance, and amount of good tasting vapor it produces is excellent it is tricky and messy to use and wastes a good amount of smoke juice. It has served me reasonably well and is far superior to the e-cigs I used initially, but I am ready to move on to cartos.

I just got an eGo-c type B setup. I'm probably not in a position to review it yet since it's only been about 18 hours. So far I haven't had any issues with it. The thing I noticed right of the bat was that I really have to press down hard on a new tank to get it seated correctly. There should be no space between the cone and the bottom of the mouth piece. As stated above; it kind of clicks when you get it all the way down.

Thanks for the help guys. Right now I'm at work so I can't try the tips you gave about getting the tank securely on the atomizer. I'm hoping I just haven't gotten the tank fully mated with the atty.

I'm currently using the new Riva battery with an old carto and it's working great. However, I tried two different tank/atty combos and couldn't get either working. One tank gave me one decent hit of vapor and then nothing. I also tried both tank/atty combos with my old 510 battery and couldn't get any vapor. Once I get home I'll make absolutely sure the tank is properly mated with the atty and then I'll post the results.

Thanks!

Ok, I think I've solved the problem. No matter how hard I pushed and twisted, I wasn't getting the "pop" from the tank, even when it was fully inserted and sitting flush. So, I just used a paperclip to pop the hole where the atty goes in. Now it's working! It's producing a lot of vapor, but MAN is that vapor HARSH. I really, really prefer the vapor I was getting from the Riva battery + old Boge cartos. I think my next step should be to look into something like clearomizers? Can anyone give any input on a good carto/clearomizer/etc to use? (In the past, I've only used Boge cartos - which are great, but they die fairly quickly, and there's usually one dud in each box I get).

Thanks!
