switching from dip to vaping, question for runners/cyclists

Had to get a biopsy yesterday on a spot in my jaw - not a biggie, surgeon said it wasnt anything -the biopsy was a precaution-but it was scary. We talked about vaping and he suggested that I move to that as it was safer in his mind. One of my concerns is running/cycling performance. When I quite smoking and moved to dip my running/cycling performance improved overtime. I no longer wheeze or feel out of breathe. Have any runners/cyclists moved from dip to vaping? If you have, did you notice a hit on you time, stamina? TIA

adding: sorry for not introducing myself, i live in NJ, in my early 40's- i just bought a logic pro (i know its probably considered novice but im just trying to figure out an easy solution to a problem)-

Welcome to ecf.

Not a runner but I imagine that once you stopped smoking, your body got rid of all the the gunk in your lungs. I am gonna say you probably won't feel much difference if your body has already gone thru withdrawal of cigarettes.

As for ecigs slowing you down? I would say no, but again, I am not a runner. Since I gave up cigarettes 6 and a half years ago, I have seen nothing but improvement.

Do you have a vaping device? If so, we may be able to offer something that works for you. What level of nicotine are you used to? Any question that comes to your mind, just ask. No question is considered dumb here.

thanks sugar and spice, im currently using a logic pro and its helpful in reducing the irritability but i can still feel like im missing something in terms of potency and flavor. im a little concerned about going to a vape shop because everyone i know who is that into it builds there own .... and it feels like a life style. if you can reccomend something more potent in terms of nicotene (on 2.4 right now) and flavor thats low maintenance that would be awesome

eta- and congrats on your 6 years!

I would suggest you go anyway. The vape shop should be more than helpful in finding what you want. Just tell them you aren't into building your own.

Most online vapor vendors can offer you the strength of nic you need. Ecigexpress, Mount Baker Vapors, just to name a couple.
Going to a vape shop and meeting face to face does offer a better experience for someone just starting out.

Are you interested in flavors? Anything you can eat, you can vape, unfortunately. lol
Most offer tobacco flavors too. Or if you want flavorless ejuice.
These are things you may want to think about. What is it you want out of this experience?

:)

Welcome.

So, you quit smoking and moved to dipping tobacco and now are trying Vaping; from what I understand this seems sensible. You might notice temporary airway irritation with vaping, but (as the doctors discovered on a BBC documentary) it is only passing. Vapers do not wheeze in general.

Logic Pro in the UK is an eGo type e-cig sold/sourced/marketed by Japan Tobacco (previously known for old tech products as the brand 'E-Lites')
The original E-Lites hold the prize for being the most overpriced product ever made and yet successfully sold.
I don't know if it (Logic Pro) is the same product elsewhere in the world. If so, it is 100% assured you would be paying too much for an inferior product, because that is how the tobacco companies operate.

In a way, you are right! However, a considerable amount of vapers who use higher tech hardware and make their own atomizer coils/wick also have some plug and play system(s).

I use a plug and play from 9-5, sometimes all day.

2.4% Nicotine (24mg) is strong liquid and if you really feel it's not enough, you should definitely search out a higher performance product.

The highest strength I have ever used was 48mg. It seems insane, but when there is almost no vapor from an e-cigarette, the strength needed to be effective is directly linked to the volume/amount of vapor.

For example, 24mg in the E-Lites I mentioned before was not strong enough to curb cravings. :(
18mg in an eGo e-cigarette is more nicotine.
12mg in a 'mod' e-cigarette is more than both.
6mg vaped at "sub-ohm" power (more than 20w) could produce more than any of those combinations.

I would recommend a sub-ohm 'Pen' like the Kanger Subvod - that might be the sort of thing.

Hi and welcome. It's actually refreshing to hear of someone advised by their doctor to vape instead of smoke/dip. I would say a trip to the vape shop can still be worthwhile as long as you're clear about wanting a simple setup and not into the clouds/building/hobby of it right now. There are lots of solid suggestions already posted, all of which will be better than what you're currently using.

Also do be aware as you go along and find that you need supplies like replacement factory coils for the tank, you will likely find better prices online than at the vape shop.
Good luck!

This may be another consideration.....Just because it goes to 75W doesn't mean you need vape that high.

Yes! Good comment. My new box mod is specified up to 200w, but you can plug and play 14w on that very nicely.
Nearly 4 days battery life as well. :)

Here is what the kanger subvod looks like. If your vapeshop wants more than $30.00 just know you can get it here + shipping. At least if the vapeshop has them you can look and hold in your hand to decide if you like it.

I mountain bike ride, and am an ex smoker. If you vape too much before you ride, you will feel like lungs are heavy. At least I do. But after a while of riding and not vaping, it goes away.

I'll do a 3 hour ride with lots of climbing and never vape. I just forget about it while out and about.

why vape when you can "drip".... when I cant vape I will smear a very small drop of juice on my finger and lick it...
it gives me the nic I crave and no need to inhale ;)

imagine a Marks-A-Lot loaded with nic juice, pop the top, lick the tip, and WALA... your good to go for 30 more minutes :)
and if anyone invents this, just remember I thought of it ;)

Hi Jack & welcome
I purchased a couple of Subvods a couple of weeks back as they were on sale for $10. I figured it may be OK for travel and a kick around unit but I was immensely disappointed in the performance of the tank, so much so that I never even bothered to use the 2nd tank, simply put them away and mounted my older Ijust 2 tanks on the mods. The only complaint I have on the stick mod is that you can't feel the button which means you have to look to find where it is, a pain, especially if you're driving. I think you can do much better than this unit for sure.

With many atomizers you have the option of using their factory coils or using their RBA. I'd suggest that to you as you may find at a later date you are interested in building or you may find yourself pushed into it if the factory coils become unavailable. I now do not buy tanks unless there is an RBA option.

Welcome and glad you joined. Glad your doctor knows that vaping is far safer than smoking. Now if we can make the Trump administration see the light, perhaps vaping will get a fair hearing.

So I went to the vape shop and looked at the Kangertech; the guy at the store said it was a pretty solid pick and i was okay with it - the only issue ive read online is that it is very prone to leaking and that the glass breaks often. the latter isnt too big of a deal as the glass appears easy enough to replace but can anyone speak to the leaking issue? TIA
