I recenlty quit smoking analogs and went 3 weeks and slipped up one day when the cravings wouln't go away, 2 days after that i stumpled upon a tv show about the smokingeverywhere e cig. Didn't do my research and ended up with a pretty crappy ecig and was very disappointed. I then purchased the pen style from puresmoker and some low and medium juice. I started puffing away on the 16mg stuff and had a nic OD, my pulse raced to 160bpm. Ill have to add that I am a light smoker (1/2 pack of camel lights). So then I diluted the low and medium with VG making the low around 5.5mg and medium to 8mg. Unfornately, now the vapor tastes like crap and am not getting the same nic sensation as an analog. From a analog i get that nic rush, satisfied feeling. From the ecig i feel im just blowing air:( I went a few days without a regular cig, but have been sneaking in one or two a day recently. Also i dont get a 'throat' hit from the pen like an analog. It's got great vapor production but its just missing something....After reading Park's review on the Janty Dura i ordered one of those and different juices. Ive already spent quite a bit on the ecig idea and hope this works as i really want to quit smoking analogs! Any suggestions?

The Dura might work out well for you (fingers crossed!) But I know what you mean about the diluting. People rave about it on here but when I tried mixing my 36mg juice with glycerin to cut it, I lost a lot of flavor. Got a lot of vapor, but no flavor. Then I tried mixing it with 0 nic of the same flavor....more expensive but worked out much better for me than the glycerin.

Welcome.......

Stick with it and should it provide you with replacing completely your analogs then Kudo's to you.

I really feel that a lot of people are expecting way too much from this nicotine delivery system. We're all so used to analogs and expecting a miracle replacement which simply it not the case with these devices.

Think of what your replacing with what your now using and inhaling. You may be imitating the actions of intake and exhale with faux smoke, yet they both are of different combined substances that your body and sensors will need to adjust to.

My approach was and is quite different from others. My intention was to "reduce" not replace my very heavy analog use mostly because of the tar and carbon monoxide I was ingesting was making it near impossible to breath properly anymore.

Add to that the constant "smokers cough" and hacking up very unpleasant spitting every morning and throughout the day.

Then add all the other results of analog smoking that there is, such as the stink of your person, your car, your house; the staining of your fingers, your windows, your walls; the health risks of your loved ones, your friends, yourself; and finally the need to freezing your .... off or submitting to other foul weather with frequently going outside to appease your cravings due to the now unaccepted use of your analogs.

That's a lot of replacing to do, and there's no way it will be simple.

I still smoke analogs myself, but to me my now 1/2 a pack intake per day over my previous 2-3 pack a day has made me happy with my choice. I feel much better than I did before, and all that I have mentioned previously is to a level that I am "currently" very satisfied with in comparison to before for "ME".

Will I progress to becoming analog FREE at some point ?? There's always the hope and desire to do so now that I'm that much closer to it without feeling like I've lost out on anything but the bad side effects of MY analog use, but it is not my focal point as I've already achieved a great improvement.

Telling myself that every time I pull out this little gizmo while not pulling out an analog I've accomplished yet another achievement. And to me, that's positive enforcement without implementing negative results.

So, don't be so hard on yourself, you've probably achieved the same results and should be congratulating yourself instead of feeling disappointed.

Nobody ever claimed it was easy !!

Agree with all that Greg. Nice post.

I too did not buy one of these with the intention of giving up immediately. What I did was cut down my smoking to about 4 or 5 a day from over 20. I found though, I could go the whole day without smoking sometimes (especially when I started using better e-liquids instead of cartridges). I made the decision to stop smoking completely at new year. Even if I fall off the wagon (I haven't been for a big drinking session since new year, which is when I think that is most likely!) I won't beat myself up about it terribly.

Thanks for the encouragement guys, I'll stick with it and see how I do. I used to be a respiratory therapist, now im an RN in a busy ICU so i get to see the consequences of smoking. I definately dont wont to end up like my patients when I get older. The ecig seems like this can make it possible. I'll post again when the Dura comes in to give an update. Ive also purchased e juices from puresmoker and janty, hopefully giving a better flavor.

Welcome Ace .... I just want to back up what everyone else has said. I too got one of these not intending to quit totally. I just had to try them out. In my first day with it i really didn't have the urge to smoke too many analogs. I went from 25 a day on average for the last 30 years to 3 - 4 a day. Four days later i stopped totally with the analogs.
For weeks i still had the urges to grab an analog but i didn't have any and the urge passed.

My main driving fact is that i'd spent the money on ecigs so there was no cash for analogs. I still every once in a while want to smoke an analog just to see how it would be. If i do, like papa said, i won't beat myselfup over it.

There is a definite learning curve to using these things and everyone is diiferent. Finding the right juice and nic strength that suits you is a big part of it. Learning how to use your chosen ecig to get the best out of it is another. For me i think part of the attraction is the constant fiddling and tinkering. It keeps me busy .

The bottom line is i'm not smoking tobacco and really don't miss it 99% of the time.

You won't find anyone around here that will think bad if you smoke analogs too.

So check in often and let us know how things are going. If you have any questions at all come here and ask. Someone will help you out.
