I will be using a brass target. Think thumb tac size on the side of the carbon fiber box.

Why would you lick it?

It is solid state and capacitive.

Liquid is not going to fire it if that is what your thinking...

I think he was making a reference to the Busardo review of the IPV2 with the licking deal. So his comment got a chuckle out of me.

But back to important stuff.... Let's see it! Take a pick of it all spread out if it's still hooked up, I'm thinking of touch sensor also and this would be a big help to see how you've done this.

Huston we have a problem.....
I did lick the board and it stays on until I blew on it and it dried off.
I then attached a wire to the solder point the provide and attached a thumb tac and licking the tac it does not stay on.

So further experiments are required.
I have pictures when I get to a computer I will up load them.

It is completely solid state. No moving parts. No mylar contact silkscreened. I dont know whats on your xbox im too old to know but I doubt it is the same.

it's a non mechanical switch that is probably some sort of sensor under the face plate of my xbox. There is no visible switch and you don't need to push, just touch.

If this is what were talking about I want one for my raptor box mods I've been building.

Humm... ok well then it sounds like it is the same type of switch.

Any pictures yet? Also can you wire it up without the transistor? My electrical engineering skills leave much to be desired.

This is how I attached the transistor.

The colored heat shrink helps you see where each lead goes.

The Adafruit switch provides a + voltage out that is the wrong state to fire the sx-350. Cut your fire switch off and use an ohm meter to find the ground. The other switch lead is the one that needs to be pulled to ground to fire the sx-350. We are using the 2N3904 as a switch to do this. The output on the adafruit boaed is applied to the based of the transistor. The collector is connected to the + switch lead (we found with the meter) The emiter is connected to the ground.
The transistor is layed out perfectly for this.

Here is is air wired checking the theory. I hope you can see it well enough to figure out what goes where.

If there is two pictures the one on the bottom is not the correct way to wire it up. You need the resistors to get it to function properly.

Here is the problem I had with this switch and more research needs to be done.
I hope you guys will report back with what you find?
I abandoned trying to use this in my carbon fiber body mods I build because if my sense lead touches the carbon fiber it fires.

There has to be some material that can be used as an insulator. And type of wire that wont fire when you touch the outside of it. Maybe micro coax with the sheild grounded? Something....???
