That was my question..............................Until I ordered and Received mine.

The SX mini M class Capabilities and Flexibility is impressive. The Ability to update rather than Re-Purchase alone cuts cost. The mod was released with a working v1.7 Firmware, later release is v2.2 and there is a v2.23 beta with Ti wire capabilities. That = 3 mod purchases form most manufacturers.

Not a Fanboy and own 30+ mods both Mechanical and Regulated. This one definitely the best of my collection.

Currently running a Dual coil .017 build Ni200 @ 400f/30J in one of my Orchid tanks. Nice warm Vape with no overheating at the end of a draw and no dry hits.

The only drawback I see in this otherwise excellent performing mod is the PIA Battery cap! You would think after 2 versions, the S and now M class, they would find a better solution.
What would be wrong with a 1/4 turn lock cap? It is top spring loaded anyway. Press/twist/done.

    Good question.

Is the SX-Mini-M really worth the $160.00USD more than I paid for each of the other two box mods shown above?

    • The SMY50TC on the right takes ~5sec to ramp up to only 390F and is large, heavy and clunky (battery seems to drain/die even with the mod off)
    • The iStick TC40W on the left has a non-replaceable 2600mAH battery and overly optimistic temperature measurement
    • Unlike the other two, the SX-Mini-M in the middle has user upgradable firmware (with TI support) and user selectable power level and overdrive ramp modes in TC mode
it might be rather doubtful that one of the above box mods is 5x better than the other two based strictly on cost/performance however considering that I feel one example is mostly unusable and the other inexpensive example I only recently got, the SX-Mini-M still currently my "go to" when it comes to TC vaping.

    <edit>
(price/performance was not even considered when I purchased the SX-Mini-M instead the idea that it "just works" was a major selling point)

I would never buy one. (Edit)
I thought about buying one before TC became affordable. Thanks good ness I hadn't because now TC cost 4 times less the 200 dollar price tag. I do not think my ''ADDICTION'' deserves it. LOL

This is a Very deceiving response thanks to marketing and lack of knowledge about specific products.
Start with Build Quality - Which reflects reliability.
Add in Battery replacement vs.(most) having built-in<toss Mod once Dead> lithium batteries.
    Shake well with Feature comparisons.
Sautee in Accuracy with just a sprinkle of Upgrade-ability.

Yes, I'm looking toward a low cost TC for out and about. Will it replace the SX mini?
    Impossible.

*Note - I own and enjoy using several Cloupor mini's and IPV mini's as well as the others, but they just cannot come close to what the SX mini is capable of even in its basic VW mode.

    Oh.........and mine was only $169.15 delivered:D

I'm thinking about selling mine. I like it and there's certainly nothing wrong with it, but I got used to using another mod and the m-class sits lonely in a drawer. :(

If I was thinking about buying only one TC mod, the m-class would definitely be on the list to consider. I just go through batteries too fast and the method of changing the battery is a slight but real inconvenience.

cress nailed it! I own several (really many) mods & TL mods both DNA and SX and the SX is by far the most accurate and produces the best vape. It's a great mod but it's all about the chip. I used one in a Boxer mod because there are very few boxes available and that mod is outstanding but it's still the chip. So far the mod has been flawless!

what i really like and please correct me if i read this wrong, that currently in battery mode its 60w, in charging mode its 80w, and there is future firmware upgrades coming that can upgrade it to 120w? if thats truly the case to me there is no question about it that right there shows the company cares about making its customers happy rather then releasing a new unit every few months to keep digging into our pockets...i agree the battery part looks to be a P.I.A but i guess if there had to be a draw back cause nothing is perfect then thats a draw back i can live with.

You need that extension tube to get to 150W. The newest firmware takes it to 75W for kanthal (on one battery), 75J in titanium mode and 50J for nickel.
oh ok, well i understand that i mean 150w on a single battery would be very hard to acheive and for me would defeat the purpose because i really like the small size of it, and honestly i rarely go over 50 watts so i dont think i would ever head down that road to purchase the tube..but has a man its nice to have it and not need it then need it and not have it..so when the day comes and that firmware is released i will update it to it just to have that feature there.
