I am considering the purchase of a Yihi XS Mini, to replace my aging sigelei Mini 20 Watt. I am able to purchase the M version for a really nice price, but I'm wondering if I should consider the new ML Class? In Canada, the ML Class is advertised to cost almost 50% more than the M Class. Is the additional cost of the ML worth the jump from the M Class? I am not (yet) into temp control, but I can see myself drifting that way in the future. Your experience or opinions would be appreciated.

I haven't seen the ML, but I have an M. As to whether or not you think the new one is worth the price jump, I can't say. I can say, so long as you can get by with Kanthal, Ni200 and Ti, the SX Mini M should do all you need. If you have to have big power, they make an extension tube so you can add another battery and this doubles the native wattage.

I have a M class and it is far and away my favorite mod.

But would I buy it again?? Or a ML class??

I dunno.

So many mods can do what the SX can for 50 bucks. And I have several that can do what I need them to for even less.

I think the days of the 200 dollar mod are over except maybe for collectors. For people who just don't wanna smoke any more there simply isn't any reason to spend that much.

I predict the ML won't do super well. Only collectors will buy one. I am a collector so i will most likely end up with one though.

Northern NJ native , Coastal NC now.
Question is
Next year, will you want Last years Tech or tech from 2 years ago? Both are excellent. ML is, due to advancements, superior.

If your someone who chases technology and must have the latest than the M class is probably your thing . I could buy an "M" class but after trying many different high end mods it became very apparent that the overall vape quality IS NOT superior in any way.

Even the "M" class is way more than what i will ever need. When something comes out that really is a game changer and provides a vastly superior vape thats when i will buy a new mod

To each their own

Well some of the cheaper mods do have a few similar features, but I know few mods which have memory presets, preference settings (like boost, soft etc.) and manual TCR to handle every wire you throw at them.....DNA200, Dicodes and Yihi are the only ones I can think of, and they are not even close to the $50,- mark......so I wouldn't say that the $50 mods can do the same.
Also the SX has been very reliable so far.

But I don't (yet) see the advantage of the ML over the M class...the M class is an excellent mod that can do about everything you could wish for in a mod (if you're satisfied with 75w that is, and I am)

Not a 1:1 but close enough for some people.

The IPV D2 uses a Yihi chip to do most of those things. Honestly in terms of TC and such I prefer the D2. Its a good mod.

For my general use, and maybe others as well, a nice vape can be gotten from other mods.

In terms of hand feel the SX is a dream (boy I wish the button was on top, oh wait it is). I love the SX and with the recent sales its a steal at 100$. I do not like the feel of a D2 in my hand but in terms of a vape 40 bucks vs 200 is a tough sell. The SX is a better mod but 5 times better?? Its not.

Thats assuming TC is desired. I passed the TC phase of my vaping awhile ago and the list of 50 dollar mods that give me an equal vape is loooooong. When I am completely honest my CF4 gives me the same vape in a 29 dollar package and this is my beater/worl mod.

Good god has it really only been 6 months that mods have gotten so good that less then 50 bucks does the job??

All this being said if you can afford a 200 dollar mod the SX is a fantastic choice.

Thank you all for your responses; much appreciated. Since December 01 was my one year vapaversary (no cigs what so ever  ), I decided to give myself a special treat. I purchased the SX Mini M Class. Here in Canada they can be pricey, normally $230-$255 Cdn, however, I found one vendor that was selling it for $169 Cdn (U.S. $125, for my American friends), so I really couldn't resist. I've only been using it for a couple of days, but I've really grown to like it. It's a very solid unit, read heavy (lol), and the feel in the hand is amazing. Anyway, I can only compare it to my old Sigelei Mini 20 Watt and an IPV and, although it may be my imagination, the SX seems to perform better. I really like the "boost" feature and I'm able to vape at a higher wattage without a burnt wick taste. I use to vape my Sig at 12 watts max (1.6 coil), but I'm vaping the SX at 15-17 watts (same coil) and I'm getting way more flavour, with no burning. Maybe the SX is more accurate? Whatever the reason, I'm quite happy with my anniversary gift to myself :)

The M class with the last firmware update now has manual tcr for SS or other wire (silver, gold) so can handle tc with anything.

The ML brings these to the table:
1. A setting for 304SS in addition to the manual tcr.
2. The ability to use new software on your computer similar to what Evolv is doing with the DNA200.

So if you want those 2 things, get the ML. I would have to think there could be future advancements via firmware for the ML that could come out later.

Hello Roxynoodle:

So, the M Class can be software upgraded to accept TC wire other than just Ni? I didn't know that. Thanks.

Peter

There were 3 firmware upgrades. The second one added a ti mode, 75W and 5 preheat settings. The final one added manual tcr for any type of wire. For me, I'm very happy and do not feel the need to buy the ML for the software. I don't think I'm the type to want to sit at a computer analyzing my vape, but maybe I am? :). I bought another M class last week for $99.95 and was thrilled to save $100 over the ML class. However, those sold out quickly so now the price difference would probably tip me toward the ML.

Sitting here looking at 10 or 15 TC mods, I've found that all of their makers SAY they can do the same things as an SX Mini, but almost none of them can. Consistent, accurate resistance monitoring seems to be a black art and only the SX350J and the DNA200 seem to be able to actually do it. The best of the rest are wearing dark sunglasses and can get it right with fiddling, but the others seem to be trying to do it while wearing blindfolds.
