SX350 box mod

just thought id share/show my mod here. never know if my ideas will promote more creativity in others. box is made with acrylic that I cut using a miter saw. so added up... $63 for chip, $3 510-ego adapter, $6 18650 battery, $2 worth of scrap acrylic. $74 for a 35 watt mod, not too bad.

cover is sitting there in picture 4. it is glued on now. figure if the batt goes bad, then i get to make a new box.

Could you show how you did your button, or draw/talk about it? I actually just started a similar project and just ordered my chip today.

I actually already retired the green box, had to extend the top and bottom a layer to add screws. in answer to your question, I used a Chicago screw rivet to actcuate the little button that came with the sx350. you can see it way easier on the new mod.. pictures for your enjoyment below

Very nice!!! Yours now looks similar to how mine will look. I plan on making a magnetic door for it though, and using a flat-top Chi-You conversion from FT for the 510 to give a nice sturdy platform up top. I really really like yours!!

cool man i cant wait to see yours i just went with screws because i will not really need to take the battery out ever, am curious to see how you utilize the magnets to it. i think better than the chi you top would be one of the 510 connectors from this place: SHOP - FatDaddyVapes.com - Home of the best vape tweaks and replacement hardware.

If anyone decides to solder the connections for the up/down functions, make sure you get the "step by step" pictures from YiHiEcigar e-mailed to you. There's four terminals in a row, but only three are used. The two on the right are positive and negative and the farthest on the left your suppose to solder TWO wires to it. This leaves the terminal to the right of it empty. Can anyone explain to me why the two wires are soldered to one terminal? I tried to add the link, but it wouldn't work.

k0py - most of my parts are on the way. I wanted the FatDaddy 510, but they are out of stock! The eBay vendor I got my SX from still hasn't shipped it after 3 days, I'm becoming impatient lol... For the magnets, my idea is simple but I think it will work. I'm going to use a bit thicker acrylic than the original box picture I posted and just do half-drilled holes with the magnets epoxied in for the door, then recessed magnets for the box. Should allow them to snap together firmly.

EJAB - Can you possibly post those pictures here? You'd be doing us a huge favor.

Very creative way to NOT have to make a cutout for the screen and/or screen cradle. Just make the box transparent! This is grand! Now you got me thinking about my own take on this concept. Thanks!
