The pup and I got along great! 28ga 2mm id 1.3 ohms @ 13.5 watts. Up and running in no time. Digging the airflow and the low profile. Something about the crackle this tank gives, I can see becoming addictive.

Wick is breaking in nice and flavor is coming in good. Close to kayfun mini. Give it a day or so, probably order more.

The tank crackling noise is one of the things I love the most about the sjmy doggy. And congrats on surviving after reading this thread ;)

I have two bottom filled SXK and I have put them away because of the bottom filling.
Now I see the SXK 2k16 version - does it give the same vape experience as the bottom filled ?

The top-fill sxk 2k18 has a 2.5mm airflow hole id, so if you want the tighter draw, you need to replace the center post with a bottom fill sxk post. If you use the juice flow control to fill, it's pretty reliable - just the odd gurgle.

The 2k18 does vape a slight bit differently, the metal cap makes it a bit quieter.

My two Doggies arrived and I've just been using one for the first time. Juice pished out the bottom so replaced that o ring. More juice every where so had a good look and realised the coil was too low so juice was getting into the air hole. Fixed that rather cowboyish and it's now leak free.

I'm actually a bit underwhelmed. It's ok but maybe I was just expecting more after reading all the love on here. For what it cost it's fine but...I'm back on my Berserker mini. Early days so maybe I'll grow into it.

I think the Berserker Mini is the tank I'd be using right now if I wasn't in love with my Doggies so much. It's a great little tank and does benefit over the Doggy from a bit more space on the deck to position the coil safely, but I don't think it's quite as good for flavour and vape quality. I also rated its bigger brother (the full size Berserker) and thought it better than the Kayfun 5 and Prime IIRC. The Berserker range in general are underated tanks IMO.

But a combination of vape quality, flavour, simplicity and consistency are the main reasons that keep me in love with the Doggy and no other recent tank has matched it yet for me. I've said it before (but I really really mean it this time) I've stopped looking now as I am fed up buying new "latest big thing" tanks only to be left disappointed. It will take a huge love fest thread on here now to get me to even think about buying a new tank to test. I think the only reason I have kept testing new tanks to date is I do feel guilty enjoying and favouring a cheap clone so much, but I've spent enough money chasing authentic alternatives now and I'm over it.

I hear you about the Berserker Mini but do keep working with your Doggy and I hope you will soon discover how loyal and rewarding it can be.

As a loyal Doggy 2K16 user (and one, like Rcon, who has stopped looking for anything new...tank, mod, or anything vape replated) I wish I could provide more help to those struggling a bit with it, but I can't. Truth is they've been the easiest and most trouble free tanks to work with, and maintain, that I've ever used from the moment I coiled my first.

They may not be for everyone, for sure. But worth sticking with them for a bit to see if they can be made to work for you.

Any advice on a build for the SXK 2k16? I use a DIY NET e-liquid with essentially 95% VG 5% PGA. Tried 28 gauge and 30 gauge Kanthal spaced 5-6 wraps 3mm id. Very tight draw. 9-10 watts. Have been getting the gurgles. Also seems the coil is gunking up faster, even for a NET...

I like a cool vape, preferably something I can use on a mech mod as well. Oh, and some fries with that, thanks.
I highly recommend dropping the ID of the coil to 2mm. I'd never used a coil that small, but early on in this thread, @Dubminer was the Doggy sensei, and recommended it. I dropped from 2.5mm to 2, and couldn't believe the difference in flavor & throat hit. SS 316L, 28ga, 7 wraps spaced, 0.58ohm, >1mm above AF. I'm guessing at the height, but I put it so a little over half the coil is above the screw heads. Like you, I use NET, and I use all VG.

And I found gurgles on this tank almost always meant wick contact with the AF intake. Even if you have the coil over 1mm above the hole, if the shoulders aren't "up," a little, it can kind of cause a path to the hole. Dropping ID of the coil might help with the gurgling, since you'd have less wick potentially in contact where it shouldn't be.

Doggies rarely need it if the wick is placed right, but like other tanks, turning it upside down and blowing sharply through it should clear any condensation or seepage in the base, which is where the gurgle comes from.

Me three, sjmy 2k16 is still my fave RTA. And I've been trying a few others  but none beat it :thumb:

The Doggy is my 3rd favorite (after the Prime and Dvarw). I think the simplicity is the best thing about it. My other atomizers have more parts but I don't mind. I can't recall the Doggy leaking or causing me problems. The air flow control is crude. And I'd prefer a narrower chimney but it wasn't originally a MTL atomizer (SXK just used a smaller airflow hole). But it's pretty much problem free for me. Mainly, I just prefer the vape from Prime and Dvarw.

Yep the SJMY has the larger airflow hole of 2.3mm. There's the top fill sxk 2k18 version 2.5mm id airflow - if you don't mind using the JFC. It works by using your drip tip to twist the chamber before filling. It gave me the odd gurgle after refilling, but was pretty good overall with regard to gurgles.

I've tried it, and used it for a few weeks, but just preferred the deck and vape of the bottom fill 2k16 sjmy doggy

Hi @AngeNZ Im going to order one of the ones you so kindly linked to. I have a question, does the SXK 2K18 version come with the dog paw logo? I know stupid but it’s so cute. In the FT pictures I don’t see any paw logo. Thanks!

No it doesn't .... it ;) and that was the first thing I checked. I haven't measured it, but I think the top of the chamber is a different size to the top of the 2k16 chamber - otherwise someone who has a stash of paw printed 2k16 chambers could send you one.

I got my SXK Doggy 2K16, and enjoying it very much. I don't even see the bottom fill as a con, as this allows me to properly check the status of my cotton :) I would for sure recommend it, especially for that price!

Agreeing with @Cool_Breeze that it is great on the Pico (75 watt), perfect fit and looks :)

Does yours have the Paw print on the chamber? Did you purchase from FT? Thanks!
