Hi guys,

I'm getting frustrated with my SXmini G-Class experience...

I'm currently playing my second one, Kevlar Navy Blue version, as I had to send back my first one, because of a battery door closure issue. Exchange went well with no issues.

Now, with the new one, newest firmware for SX550A, I encountered a charging issue. The device won't charge my batteries as soon as I vaped them down till battery low warning. Tried 3 different pairs of batteries (VTC5A, VTC4) and also tried charging via PC, USB hub, and finally via individual 2A charger... no success.

What my G-Class does do, is charging within a discharge range between 7 - 8V, more or less. But as soon as battery low level is reached, no charging happens during hours connected...

Anyone else facing this issue or is there an explanation for this problem?

The G class require an high quality 2+ Amp power supply and cable.
I noted that, with a low rated or noisy power supply, the mod tends to undercharge batteries.
Please note that on the two G class I own, they will not start charging if the battery voltage is higher than 8.1 Volt. They terminate charge at 8.4 V however.
Try to use a good (expensive) 2.4 Amp charger before calling a device fault. Use one of those USB inline V/A meters to monitor the charge.

Yes, it should work. But if you want to make sure your batteries are charged fully and safely, a good external charger is the way to go. If one of those batteries decides to misbehave while charging internally, you probably lose the battery and the 200+€ mod.

If that happens on an external charger, you only lose the charger and the mod lives to vape another day.

Another benefit of external charging: no wear on the micro USB port. If that goes, you have no way of updating firmware via direct connection. And you know Murphy's Law: When you lose your USB port, your firmware will need an update and the only way to get that particular update will be... via USB.

I had the same issue when I got my G Class. Turns out the fancy looking usb wire they include was pretty on the outside but crap in the inside. Charges just fine using my Galaxy Note 8’s usb c wire. The stock wire works when it wants to and you have to play with it and make sure the line in the middle of the tip is facing upwards when inserting..
