Some flavors are like that. Some chemical in the flavoring does not react well with the plastic barrel or the rubber plunger. I have a TFA granny smith apple that binds up syringes. If I wash them out right away after use, store with the plunger out, and 'lubricate' the plunger with some VG before sucking up those particular flavorings, it helps keep them working longer.

Thanks for the fast reply. I will try that and see what happens.

Banana does it for me. Yes, I think that the banana flavoring is just acidic or corrosive enough to roughen the inside of the barrel or rubber plunger. I now have a syringe just for banana. :) I don't see a reason to toss the syringe each time I use it for banana, I am just slower and more careful using it.

I wash right away and store with the plunger pulled back the whole way. I haven't got to the point of "lubricating" it with VG yet.

Oh, also... if you are using the actual
oil based flavors, that is not good. Although LorAnns lists their flavors as oil, most are not. A few are, and those are not suitable for vaping.
It has happened with orange, cherry, butter rum and peppermint so far. Maybe I should not use then at all.

It has been a while since I used Lorann. I think orange and peppermint may actually be oils, so should not be used. There is a list somewhere where you can check. Or, if the flavoring does not mix in with the other liquids, that's a pretty good hint that it's in oil rather than PG. The cherry and butter rum, I think are in PG. But, do look for the list and check. It may be a pinned thread here in this forum.

ETA: sorry, not this forum, but the DIY subforum.

I haven't tried all those flavors, but speaking from personal experience FlavourArt's peppermint is FAR better than LorAnn. It not only tastes much better, but you'll only need to use a little bit to get a good result. 3-5% should be all you'll need. It's also cheaper, especially if you buy it 30ml or more at a time.

Is the needle opening wide enough for the flavor to go thru? Does the LorAnn flavor seem thicker than the other ones you are using? I use a 14 guage for all of my flavors and never seem to have that problem.
:)
The LorAnn flavors are not thick at all. I am using a 14 ga. as well. Thanks for the reply.

Another alternative is to buy a 10ml graduate and measure that way.
True. I bought a couple of glass syringes (10 ml and 5 ml) off Amazon because I saw what a couple of flavors did to my plastic syringes. They're a little pricey, but they should last a lifetime if taken care of.

I think you will enjoy the other brand flavors better. I started with Lorann way back, mainly because they were available locally and it was a good way to get my feet wet, but there are much better options for making juice IMO, even without the added confusion of making sure the particular flavors you have aren't actual oil based flavors.
