love my T Tips so FAR But I'm starting to be concerned about metal (brass) poisoning.
lots of chatter about this on Trumpet forums with brass mouthpieces. One important difference between a trumpet player and vaping is we INHALE.

ive noticed discoloring on the tip except where my lips contact the end and thought... yeah im absorbing something through my lips for sure.
other concern is the inhaling through the brass.
any thoughts?

somewhere out there......
well if that is the case then all the brass contacts on all ecigs will be an issue as well and the copper wire and solder in the atties will cause issues as well.... brass trumpets players also place there lips on the brass and absorb the metal. I think it would take a lot of absorption to get any kind of symptoms. I went to several forums and health sights on this matter and it seems that very few people have had issues.... usually those who do have issues are allergic to the copper and zinc metal mix (brass).

All our lives we absorb copper through proteins and it settles in the liver. so I dont know what else to say... just clean the brass t-tips every other day with soap and water and you should be okay...

I Don't know about the parts in the atty. but it's the tips I'm really concerned with since our lips contact it as we inhale. hopefully nobody is keeping it in their mouth when not actually inhaling.
seems it would be a good practice to have a "dry" technique and not let the brass contact the inside (wet) Part of Your lips.
Yes, cleaning it often would also be advisable. The inside of the T Tips gets gunked up.

you make a good point about the other parts. might be good to think about that as well.

With a quick Google search I could only find anecdotal information so I tried the Mayo Clinic.

Google

The only mention of brass and poisoning was in relation to lead solder.

Most every water faucet except cheap ones are brass. That means all sodas, water and so on came through a brass valve at some time in it's creation.

If you are really worried about it search some more and see if you can find any medical references, not musicians. Just to be clear my knowledge is based two Google searches and on nothing more.

The city's water supply is probably still lead. Most of Chicago still is. Otherwise, no, all water supplies are brass or copper. Only the co2 in carbonated water causes a chemical reaction when it comes in contact with copper (which brass contains) I don't think you will have any issue with the brass. Being a plumber I have had my lips around plenty of brass and copper pipes. (Take it easy, Sailor) If anyone is that worried about it, paint it or have it powder coated.

T-tips are made from a lead "free" brass (per epa classification of brass types) of 60/40 copper/zinc. You may just want to give them a cleaning everyday to wash away any oxidization. Just a quick wash with a toothbrush, dishsoap and warm water will keep them clean and looking good.

I also have a batch of stainless steel T-tips being made as we speak if you are interested in a more corrosion resistant metal, though even stainless steel does corrode over time, albeit at a drastically lower rate.

Yet there is absolutely no concern about the plastic mouthpieces that come with every e-cig?

From Wiki --
Due to their insolubility in water and relative chemical inertness, pure plastics generally have low toxicity in their finished state, and will pass through the digestive system with no ill effect (other than mechanical damage or obstruction).
However, plastics often contain a variety of toxic additives. For example, plasticizers like adipates and phthalates are often added to brittle plastics like polyvinyl chloride (PVC) to make them pliable enough for use in food packaging, children's toys and teethers, tubing, shower curtains and other items. Traces of these chemicals can leach out of the plastic when it comes into contact with food. Out of these concerns, the European Union has banned the use of DEHP (di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate), the most widely used plasticizer in PVC. Some compounds leaching from polystyrene food containers have been found to interfere with hormone functions and are suspected human carcinogens.[10]
Moreover, while the finished plastic may be non-toxic, the monomers used in its manufacture may be toxic; and small amounts of those chemical may remain trapped in the product. The World Health Organization's International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has recognized the chemical used to make PVC, vinyl chloride, as a known human carcinogen.[10] Some polymers may also decompose into the monomers or other toxic substances when heated.

"When heated" -- like we do with every drag of our PVs...

The point being if we analyze each and everything thing we do, eventually we'll find something bad. I mean, for goodness sakes, we're all smokers and ex-smokers here. We knowingly put carcinogens in our bodies for years.

I'll use my T-tips and never give it a second thought. You might even say that I don't give a rat's brass... =)

Stainless steel sounds awesome. I'm in for a set.
Will still use the brass but will be more aware and
taking better care of them.

Sounds great metapuff! I think the Stainless ones will also give some pretty awesome look to any PV too! You can shine them literally like a mirror!

Hey David
Just thinking about the stailess will look on the adapters you made for me.
Should be great.

Sounds great!! As for the stainless steel, neither the durability nor the safety has any problem than brass! ! My brass T-tips doesn't yet arrive, but I came to already want a stainless steel T-tips.:lol:

You're spot on with this! I'd prefer stainless personally but all the plastic carts and mouthpieces and people are concerned about metals (obviously lead free metals)?

That's one of my beefs with most of the products out there. Why can't you make metal inner carts? The wicking material may or may not pose a risk as well which is why I'd like to see juice injection somehow incorporated into the Super T models!

I'm seriously eyeballing the super six as I believe all the functional and electrical issues are solved with this. The only other fish for David to fry is atty moisturization and this would be the only product you would ever need (besides juice and atties of course).

The Super T products look absolutely gem in quality. The Cadillac if you will of all the mods I've seen!

Just figure out how to fuel it reliably (without plastic! maybe make some kind of cylidrical tube container for the liquid to somehow get on the atomizer).

That does look interesting. I'm thinking somehow it must be possible to utilize the suction from your drags to do the work of a pump. I just can't quite figure out how. Also aerosolizing the juice onto the atty or even a mod cart or something could work too.

The juicebox idea is sweet, I just don't like how it's all plastic.
