So in my effort to spend money on sites that I need to google translate I came across this and pre-ordered one

Taifun GT - SmokerStore - Ihr Spezialist für e-Zigaretten und Zubehör in NRW

So besides the facts that it looks snazzy on a provari with the optional ring, that it is a rebuildable tank and use multiple wick types and that it cost me a decent amount of money, I do not have a lot of information. I have watched the videos and reviews in german with hilariously CC translations ala youtube but I was wondering if anyone has one or also pre-ordered one. It looks like whitefog.co.uk will be selling them later this month as well.

So, either this thread will serve to help me or as a hilarious documentation of my trial and errors in about a month. Or maybe just pretty pictures.

Scott's review is of the original Taifun which is ego width and designed differently. It is also sold in components as in the base, then a choice of tanks and so on. I did watch it a while ago though. The fact that it seems nicely made helped me in my decision to grab the big fella, which is sold as a complete set.

Thanks for the link though

Thanks looks a nice piece of kit. Especially with the Provari (looks as though it was made for it)! What was the Euro price?

Edit: Sorry didn't see the link above!

The Taifun GT is such an amazing design and I think it should be getting a lot more attention. It is basically a dripper RBA inside of a tank. I wish they would offer a drip shield that you could screw on instead of the tank/top cap part. Then it would be your typical RDA!

I think this design can be improved upon so that it becomes a little bit smaller and moves the top portion closer to the coils as well. Even the way it is already designed I don't think you would lose a lot of heat, but I haven't tried it. The issue with this type of design is that the coils are further away from your drip tip so the vapor may cool off. In Phil's review he said the vapor from the Taifun GT was warm though.

pbusardo just did a review on it (english) haha, they look nice, a bit too pricey for my blood at this point

I exchanged a couple of emails with pbusardo recently, mostly regarding the terminator-c / oddy kind of device. He mentioned in one of his last emails that his current favorite is the Kayfun GT

That should be some endorsement. You may or may not like him / his reviews, but the fact is the guy does get to play and test a heck of a lot of low to high end devices

Ok, so it has come in. I kind of mimicked pbusardo's build. I used a piece of mesh a little over 3mm, not with a gaping hole but not super tight, 28g Kanthal. Worked out the hot spots and rotated the deck until it was lined up well. Tossed a small (relative) diameter (I think 1.5mm) piece of Ekowool on top. Filled her up with some 6mg frankenvape that I would be ok with dumping if it started leaking.

No leaks, no gurgles and the flavor/throat hit is outstanding. 1.3 ohms at 3.7 volts and this 6mg (I usually vape 18mg) is slaying me.

that filler material would prob drive me insane! i would call that thing every name in the book before i got it working. plus will have lungs heavier then a sumo wrestler after inhaling so many dry hits. headaches are already starting.

Todd's vid is of the older version Taifun which required a base component to be matched with individual tops (rba, spheroid style, genny, etc). The new GT can be set up in around 1,500 different ways - or so I believe.

I actually want to get the original with the v2 cotton tank at some point. The wool/cotton thing doesn't seem so hard.

Glad your underpants gnomes finally brought the darn thing, and that it's working well. Looks nice on the black provari.

Cotton tank? Kind of like, oh I don't know, a Spheroid? :p
