GS2 = 19 mm. GSL = 23mm. They are pretty much the same other than size.
Smokerstore is the designer as far as I know for the Taifun products.

Thanks. That's really disappointing. They were absolutely awful to me. Back to clones of their stuff.GS2 = 19 mm. GSL = 23mm. They are pretty much the same other than size.

I found it worked quite nicely as well.Dripping today with the gs2 clone Works well for that. Good flavor and vapor production. No leaking even relatively full.

I am thankful for you sharing your well analyzed thoughts, information and experienceAlthough this thread is for Taifun's I shall post this here as it pertains to most any tank.
My Hotcig FEV still had that famous Fasttech flavor even after it's initial cleaning. I kind of maybe did a bit of a rush job cleaning it as it appeared pretty clean when it arrived.
Even after it's 2nd re-wicking and filling the taste was still there.
Tonight I got after it and found the offending crude in the chimney pipe and more of it than I would have imagined. It isn't as if I didn't know better......DUH
Now that it's up and running again it's super fine now.
(like I never found crude in the air pipe before)
I have tried it on many things (Vaporshark rDNA and Clouper) and other atty's work fine on all other gear. Just this one atty no matter the deviceYes I have many Taifuns and they are all fine. On this particular one my builds have ranged form 1.3-1.5 each time I have built it out and they are stable as in no jumping
thanks I will check all that and do a overall examI would check 510 center pin (burrs, loose or too high when tightened, insulator), damaged posi post insulator and post screws (loose or stripped). If those pan out I would also check O-rings (chimney stem, top and bottom tank). Past that try a priest.
Hi CCwell, really, the only thing that is going to cause dry or burnt hits is lack of juice on the wick, hot leg, or drastic voltage increase due to a falsely high resistance.
Had a similar occurrence with a new atty just the other day. When it was altogether I was getting burnt hits, take it apart, wick was nicely saturated, and firing great, put it together, nasty burnt.
Finally I managed to catch a glimpse down the chimney of red glowing leg. Never did find out what was causing it, maybe just some funky Kanthal, was not shorted anywhere, just went away, hasn't happened since.
Do a little detective work, wet your wick really well, if you get a few good hits then bad, its gotta be wicking. If it starts out bad even when well juiced it has to be over voltage, or a hot leg/coil not firing correctly. Only way I can see it firing too hot is the mod sensing a higher resistance then it really is, which you should see on the display.
Lets hear some more about your build, wraps, size, wick, resistance. Happens after a while, immediately or? details will help figure it out.
What does the wicking media look like? correctly colored, darkened unusually fast, burnt? Normal?
PS wick is always saturated when I open it upHi CC
thats the thing, the wick never looks burnt or even dark. I have taken it apart a number of times thinking I am going to find a burnt wick and no. Maybe it would burn if I keep firing it. I usually pull it apart (again) as soon as I get 1-2 burnt hits. Build is on a blue screwdrive (sorry do not know the diameter) 5 wraps of 30 gauge, comes out about 1.37 ohms. Firing it on several things. So far I have rebuilt it three times in about three days. Always get about the same or close in OHMS
