Man this thing was dirty! The sleeves that hold the screws in place had so much gunk, honestly it looked like they put oil in there too lubricate the screws. I was obviously a little too excited when I got this tank and didn't clean it properly. Just my usual hot water swishing around in a paper cup. This tank is gonna need some soap and an ultrasonic I think.

Made the resistance stop jumping. Now my issue is wicking I think, but that comes with practice. Only the third time I've built on it. First was flawless, second was gurgly, now my third and current I think I have to much cotton. I'm hitting temp protect at 490 degrees and 16 watts. I don't think that should be happening.

Either way, thanks for the advice. Great tank so far, draw is perfect IMO. Just need to get the kinks out so I can build this one with my eyes closed like I can the GT II :)

You must have missed my first post, I mention abundance of "axle grease" inside the positive sleeve.
Taifun GT Discusion!
I roll paper towel really small like pipe cleaners and run them through every place after cleaning with hot water, dish soap and tooth brush. My next arrivals will go into rubbing alcohol after the initial cleaning.

My SS version from 3Fvape just came in.

As DW already said, the JFC/chimney turn too when you unscrew the topcap. I guess I'll have to go looking for an o-ring before I can even use it. Also, on mine the JFC is still open when I turn everything tight/closed, I actually have to open the JFC and turn it past the juice holes to close it down.

Poor design, or poorly executed clone?

I threw it back in the box unused, I think I'll be sticking to my SJMY K5.

Did you by chance smell it? Clean/not clean?

I decided to go with the 316 version from 3F, still slowly working its way here, If it has the sticky o-ring issues I'll be polishing the offending surface, and if need be I'll take a few thousandths off. Sounds like a minor, but annoying issue. A nice soft silicon o-ring might also be helpful.

Silicone o-rings are generally duro 75, but not always. I considered that route (metal removal)

Yeah, I sucked on it a couple of times to get a feel for the airflow.

Definitely not clean, there was a pretty strong "machined-taste" (I've done some metal-work in the past, it tastes/smells like the coolant we use to keep things from overheating while machining, which usually is a mixture of oil and water).

I'll see about taking it apart and boiling it some time next week (this is how I usually clean new tanks) so I can put a build on it if I get curious enough. I do not have the right size o-ring to get it to work properly but hopefully it'll be ok for a quick try.

I am going to ask a "loaded question". Does the authentic have the problem with the chimney turning when the fill cap is removed?

Not in any way. Maybe I'm being grouchy for no reason, but I came to this thread for info and discussion about the Taifun GT. About all I am seeing is talk about how to fix the poor construction of badly made counterfeits. Perhaps a separate thread for clones would be better.

Probably a bit late for that, For as far back as I've followed this thread it has seen very little of the authentic VS clone politics, pretty much everyone is here to help & learn regardless of position on the clone/authentic. I'd also point out no where in the title of the OP is it mentioned Authentic only discussion. This thread has been on-going for a very long time with very little argument of the clone debate. Plenty of that in other threads.

I think you will find this thread for the most part has progressed beyond the #$$$$clones attitude.

You neglected to ask for information. Plenty of peeps in here have both the authentic and the clones.

Still luv'n my TGT III clone but have discovered another problem. I thought I'd fix it first and then blab.
When unscrewing the top cap the cap wants to turn the chimney which opens the juice flow.
There are two o-rings on the top of the chimney tube, one seals the chimney to the tank and the other seals the top cap to the chimney. My fix was to install a ever so slightly larger o-ring at the lower spot making the chimney just a fuzz harder to turn.

This is good to know, my tank has that problem as well.
