Taifun GT Discusion!

Ok so I have a question for all the TGT users out there... I finally got around to building my clone. Used 30 gauge 6 wraps around 2mm got 1.6 ohms. Used a cotton ball unrolled and made a heavy duty wick to fill the side holes in the drop down deck shield. Probably too thick considering the diameter of the coil - but......... it worked kind of.

Anyway, cut the wick so there was wick poking out against the plastic tank. Filled and vaped. Seemed to work fine except I eventually got gurgle, tried to clear by blowing in to the mouth piece, that just made juice shoot out the air hole.

Tipped it upside down, fired and watched juice drip out the mouth piece.... after that however it did seem to clear the flood and serious gurgle, but it still gurgled a little, and I was upset the build gave me the flood in the first place. I want it problem free if possible.

It never dry hit, and it wicked great! Kept up with me at all speeds of vaping. Taste great. Thick vapor. As good as my kayfun, maybe better. The jury still out on that one. I think the vapor was thicker vs the kayfun, but again...still not positive on that.

I'm a little spoiled since having the kayfun, as it's been almost idiot proof.... building is super easy, vape is outstanding... but I really want to use the taifun too....it's so damn good looking!

We (my son and I) did another taifun with 3mm hollow ekowool, same basic idea, wick poking out touching the tank. Result? Gurgling and flood.

Is there a build picture thread? Tips on building? Suggested wick to prevent gurgle and flood.

A little off topic: I've had my horror story with the Fogger which leaked most of the time, frustrated me to no end...I don't want that with the taifun.

Any help would be awesome. Thanks in advance.

I use basically exactly the same build on my Taifun GT that I use on the Kayfun; except that I trim the wick off just a couple mm beyond the chamber. I use a 1/16 dia. micro coil, 28g kanthal, cotton ball cotton wick.

+1 on this build. It's identical to mine. I've flooded my GT before using different builds, but once I threw in the micro coil/cotton it has never flooded.

I would build your GT this way, and then prepare to be impressed. Personally, I favor my GT over my Kayfuns. The only downfall to it is that it's 23mm, limiting what mods I use it on.

Isn't the vape cooler from the GT than the Kayfun? I'm just going by pictures but it looks like the coil would be a long way from your mouth, even if a shorty drip tip was used.

The distance is actually a little shorter on the Taifun from the coil to the top cap, minus the drip tip. The Kayfun has a neck oh the top cap, that the drip tip goes into. The Taifun doesn't.

+1 on this build. It's identical to mine. I've flooded my GT before using different builds, but once I threw in the micro coil/cotton it has never flooded.

I would build your GT this way, and then prepare to be impressed. Personally, I favor my GT over my Kayfuns. The only downfall to it is that it's 23mm, limiting what mods I use it on.

I'm using a 23mm eVic, so I LOVE the fact the TGT is 23mm..... I think its the only device that is the same size as my eVic.

Sounds like I built mine pretty much the same way? Anybody have pictures they can post? (a picture speaks 1000 words, after all)

Thanks, that's good to know. Makes me wish I'd researched it a little more instead of guesstimating from pictures and overall length specs.

I've built mine twice with 3 strands of 1mm ekowool, no flooding whatsoever. It wicks like a champ. I did have my first burnt hit in a week today, but the juice was low also. None after filling it back up. I've not been careful about keeping it upright either. I love this thing!

The first time I used 6/7 wrap of 30ga kanthal the second time I used a 3/4 wrap of 0.5x1mm flat kanthal.

Has anyone tried some kind of chimney build on this thing yet?

On my tgt, at the moment, I am doing about .8ohm with 27ga. Non micro style, wrapping the coil around a 1.7mm rod.
Using sterile rolled cotton balls, I pull through a fairly loose fitting wick.
Leave about 1/2" sticking out each side of the chimney.
Then, I cut 2 short pieces about 1/2" long and lay them in the chimney grooves on top of the existing wick, just barely coming to the edges of the coil.
Drop a few drips of juice on the wicks near the coil.
Then with a pointy tool, mold the short wick pieces into the main wick. Making sure the pieces do not block the ends of the coil.
Screw on the top of the chimney, then trim all the wicks to where they stick out a couple mm. Just enough to kiss the inside of the tank.
Before I started doing this, I had occasional leaking/gurgling issues.
Since doing so, it works like a champ.
Just make sure your short extra wick pieces are melded into your main wick.
Easy work with a few drops of juice and a sharp pointy tool.

I've always built my TGT with 500 SS mesh... No other wicking material used. IMO, the TGT shines using mesh, and is designed for it. I roll a dense wick as thick as I can to fit the slots snugly, oxidize it, wrap a coil, pulse the hot spots, and vape...

I get no leaking, and all the fantastic flavor a SS mesh wick provides.

Right on time techno!!! I saw some of my old small SS wicks for protanks in my toolbox last night and it made me think to try it in my GT!!! Now I definitely will.

I did got a Taifun Gt clone, and I like it but I got some problems and not sure what it's causing them. First is that when I make a new coil and test it on a multi meter it will read like 1.8 ohm but then after I place it on the Evic it sometimes shows 2.4 ohm or another reading, to make it read well I need to adjust the bottom screw the one that makes contact with the Battery is it normal?

Second problem I got is when I made a microcoil with .25 Kanthal A1 Heat Resistance and organic cotton, it vapes well but it makes lot of condensation in the dip tip. Shall I place the coil more down near the air hole or up ?

Last think if I use Eko wool what best size to use and how much I have 2mm , 1.5 mm and 1 mm in size Thanks for any help. and Happy New Year

stuff that puppy in the slots but not so fat you have to really force it. the idea is the slot needs to be full or it will leak. in one of mine i have been using mesh with a silica core. and its working awesome.

i just sat here and read this whole thread....
i had this tank for a few weeks (got it together with a full brass chi)
i gotta say...it flooded until i removed the chamber o-ring, now it's more on the dry side...
now i just have a 1ohm micro coil, single strand of 2mm hollow eko- all i can say is it's ok...
nothing fantastic....kinda disappointed in such an expensive item....

I found cotton yarn the trick for me. Coil +/- 7/64, enough to pull 2 strands SnC through, cut 2mm past well end. Try it, money back guarantee or I'll buy it.... cheep

thx......im waiting for some cotton to arrive- it looks damn fabulous on a chi you.....wish it vaped the same way.....maybe the cotton will do the trick....

Dont tell Imeo... although I could use another ithaka, I wouldn't trade my TGT for one I will however give 'ya a Squape or Aqua for it.
