Ok my initial out of the box brief overview and notes....
It's a fairly well made unit. One of the tanks had tight threads on the plastic threads, but they should loosen up overtime....however I plan on swapping out to the full clear plastic tanks.
The real Taifun GT tanks fit and thread on nicely.
Threading seems pretty good for the most part, as well as the machining. There is definitely a clear difference in the machining and quality in general, but that should be expected.
Mine are fairly dirty, not extremely noticeable...but I always give a new atty a good scrub down regardless if it came from China or Germany.
The stock air tube on the FT TGT is measuring right around 1.5mm compared to 1.2mm on the authentic TGT. I think this is a good thing, I have changed my air tube out to one made from a 14g which is about 1.5-1.6mm and I like it better in general and seems to feed more consistent than the 1.2mm.
Be cautious of completely removing the positive coil screw and the 510 center screw at the same time. The positive disk inside the base is fairly loose and likes to move around if both are removed and could be a problem to get all lined up. My experience wasn't to bad, I was able to get the 510 center screw started and just turned it until I could see the threaded hole for positive coil screw was lined up.
Its fairly obvious to tell just by looking that the center deck portion isn't stainless and that it is plated. Below is a pic of a small area ground just to show the brass under the plating.
Another thing is the chimney tube isn't as tight of a fit as the authentic TGT. The groove in the chimney tube that acts as stop for positioning it in "at use" position seems to be off, and is a little high....probably not a big issue.
The prototype ceramic kit does fit the counterfeit, but it's a noticeably looser fit......again probably not a huge deal.
So now it's time for me to give them a scrub down and coil and wick them up.
Wicked and coiled just like my original one is right now.....1.5mm 29g 10/11 wrap (I believe) for 1.6ohm, hemp doubled over at the channels.
The wick channels seem a little tighter when the chimney cap is tightened down???? I will measure next time I tear it down.
Putting the tank on showed the first of the counterfeits flaws. The loose chimney when it's up in the groove is loose so when I started screwing on the tank the chimney spun a little and pulled the wicks out of the channels. So after I fixed the wick ends I pushed the chimney tube down just a touch to gain a little extra friction, and it went together fine. Maybe a different oring would fix this.
So far so good on vape. I have found that the hemp likes a half hour to an hour to settle in and I'm not there yet. But so far it's acting like the original.
