I have no idea if it's multiple juice. I suppose it is slightly sweet. I didn't know some put actual sugar in it. How do you find juice that doesn't cook ifor that's what this is here?

Does anyone use a juice from ITC Vape that doesn't give them any trouble? I like them. Can't beat their prices on 240ml bottles.

ITC Vape..almost forgot about them. I still have some Dirty Dutchman and CinnaGram Custard from ITC. Never got any more juice from ITC because I was annoyed that they charged me sales tax. That was silly because even with the sales tax, their juice was reasonably priced.

MikeB, it must be your juice that's causing your coils to gunk up so fast. I know that NET (Naturally E-something Tobacco) and sugary juices are often blamed for gunking coils.

So the coil and wick tonight are worse than yesterday. :-/

It's as bad as was typical with the previous wicking, however it's vaping better. More vapor, no dry hits, no gurgling or leaking. If this seems odd to you, you're not alone. I'm right there with you.

I still want to try a larger ID coil, but are we at a point that we can safely blame the juice as the culprit? Does the PG ratio make a difference? Are there other variables? Maybe how vape, long pulls?

I really want to sort this out.

I use a 2.7 mm id coil. Also I try to keep the coil over the air outlet as much as possible.
My juice is DIY and I make sure I'm using something that runs pretty clean. A well fed coil stays clean longer. My juice for tanks is 75% PG.
I'm using them in the 40 watt range. A while back I got over 100ml used before rewicking/dry burning (just a test).
Only 2 -3 second pulls here. Also I'm using temp control mod these days.
Just throwing this up here for thought.

For me it does not looks as a built fault. May be your juice is too sweet? Or have sugar in it? Wick looks like gunked, not burnt. I vape very slightly flavored juice, so my wicks last for weeks. Sometimes I burn them, getting mild dry burn (when not filling a tank in time, or forgetting to open juice flow). But it's OK for me. After filling tank, slightly burnt wick works fine, may be even better than before.

You said your wicks last for weeks. If you wouldn't mind would you link me to the exact juice you vape most often? If I need to chose any options (other than nic) let me know those too?

I want to settle this problem I'm having, and the next variable is juice. I know your juice works based on your experience with it, so I want to vape the hell out of it for a week or two and see if the problem goes away. Whatever it is, I'll learn to like it. Lol.

Interesting. Thanks for posting. All good info.

So high PG may not be the culprit. 100ml on one wick though. That's amazing. Shorter pulls, but I've been thinking that vaping at a higher wattage may lead me toward shorter pulls since I should be getting more vapor. Also, I just ordered an Hcigar VT75 thinking that with TC my coil won't just keep getting hotter as I hold down the button, which may help.

I'm still suspicious of my juice though. It now seems to be the most likely variable to me.

Your probably correct, most of the problem anyway.
I used to make some juice that I couldn't get through more than 4 - 5 ml before dry burning.
That was long ago, still have a big bottle of it in the closet...LOL

I DIY. Vape just slightly flavored juice. No difference if I use 20/80 or 50/50 PG/VG. 9-15W. Often - long slow direct to lung draws of 10 sec (till safety switches me off). You may want to try unflavored juice to check your build, but you may not like it.

Damn. Well at least that eliminates the long draws as a possibility. Has to be the juice.

@MikeB it's your juice dude... Plain and simple. That's gunk not burn. Whatever is in that juice is gunking and burning on the coil. Plain and simple. Sorry but it happens.

I don't think increasing coil size or wire gauge will help avoid that. It may? But I doubt it. Is that juice you vape dark or clear? Post a picture for us... My guess is fairly dark.

Yea, I'm thinking juice too. I think I'm still going to tweak my coil build and such just for the overall vape, but I'm thinking juice is the issue.

Question is, what to get now?

Here's a pic

I never thought I'd be posting Kayfun pictures here...pardon me...
I estimated about 80 ml's got used here before servicing.
The time has come:

The coil before dry burning:

The center of the wick shows very little scorching:

Ready for another week of 40 watt/50 watt preheat

The coil is two strands of twisted 28 gauge ss 430 and rayon wick.

80ml and one week, and your wick still looks that good. Wow, mine is atrocious. I've got to get this fixed. I can't believe I've put up with it so long.

Any clean juice recommendations are welcome!

What are you using for wicks?

Some of the guys in the Rayon thread have ran 300ml's through a single wick, and it was white when washed out later. The Rayonati change wicks out of boredom, not necessity. ;)

I have never gone that far with a wick as I have flavor OCD and change out wicks with juice changes. :D

It's the rayon Cellucotton from Sally's

I don't know if anyone has achieved 300ml's on Graham Cellucotton from Sally's, it's on the bottom of the quality list but it is very easy to use.

The list of Rayon quality.
1- Pharmaceutical Rayon - the original Rayon Wick and still arguably the best.
2 - DM/ elbin viskose balls & Tidi large balls
3- Delascos medium medical balls / KU Rayon
4- Sallys Graham Cellucotton Rayon / FF

I have the dm Viskose balls and the Sally's, the dm balls I keep as a treat since they were sent to me from a Rayonati in Bulgaria.

Juice content and vape style factor into wick longevity as well.

My friend was washing them and dry burning then putting them back in when dry.
I couldn't see doing that, but you could very easily. I have the 900' (3lb) box from Sally's, so I am a little wasteful with my wicking at times. :D
