My lovely wife gave me fiduciary approval to dive into DIY for the holidays this year. Gear has not yet arrived, but I'm very excited. 36mg nic base (aiming for 18mg juice and yes, I'm afraid of 100mg nic, there it is), lots of glassware, test kit, and many flavorings coming from Wizard Labs.

Just wanted to drop by and say hello and "Happy Holidays!"

DIY can be a Tad Frustrating at time. But for the Most Part, it is Fun and Very Inexpensive once you have some Working Recipes.

If you aiming for 18mg Finished e-liquids, you could buy 18mgNicotine Base and just add Flavoring/Sweetener. Makes it Simple in the Beginning.

The Key no matter what you do is to KEEP ACCURATE AND DETAILED RECORDS.

enjoy your DIY journey Fizzpop ... definitely worth it.

Cheers and Merry Christmas

Listen to this WillyZee guy. His apple pie DIY is out of this world.

I use 100mg base with no problems but I live alone and have no worries about anyone getting into it. I mix right next to the kitchen sink just in case there is a spill but my hands have been pretty steady so far. Also lay something down on whatever surface you are using like newspaper or paper towels--I use thick paper painters tarp so if there is a spill I can just roll it up and toss it.

So far I've found DIY a lot simpler than I expected it to be. Every flavor I've made so far is vapable and one of them is simply out of this world in my opinion. Happy holidays.

Welcome to what I think of is the "Final Frontier" of vaping. Jump in with both feet is my advice. Lots of flavorings on hand have done the trick for me. Good Luck !!

Welcome to diy and even if you're using 36mg the savings are still substantial, plus it makes the math pretty easy. Just be aware that your flavors are also going to count in the final math and either adjust accordingly or go with the smaller numbers. Keep good notes so that you can duplicate your favorites and best of luck to you.

Thanks for all the kind welcomes to the sub-forum!

Welcome! I just recently started myself and LOVE it!

I would suggest to start with single flavors first (as was suggested to me). Keep it simple, read all the sticky threads and ask any questions you might have. There are some great people here to help you along the way. Enjoy!

I've been doing LOTS of reading and feel pretty good about getting into it.

Yes, by my calculations I'll be spending ~$0.05/ml vs. the $0.50/ml I am currently paying.

I have recently started diy, and vaping just wouldn't be the same without it. I currently have 10 flavors and have made a 20 ml of 1 flavor. Read as much as you can, I learned a bunch here as to how to streamline the process. My favorite suggestion that I used was to make up batches of my base (50/50 18 mg nic) then I have 20% available for flavor (pg based and calculated into the base) If I don't use a full 20% for flavor, I just top off with pg and still hit 50/50

I've found a few online. Any good suggestions for online calculators?

I don't use the e-juice me up calculator (I am on a Mac) ... however I found one for my iPhone in the App Store that works awesome.

As a matter of fact, I prefer having it on my phone while mixing ... just another mix tool in the lab lol :2cool:

Cheers and Happy New Year

hmm id like to see how that works , seems like political math to me

A question? Why do people Choose to vape 18mg? Why not 21mg? Or 16.7mg for that matter? Aren't the mg Numbers somewhat Arbitrary in the First Place?

If a Person Has to use 18mg Finished e-Liquid, then for DIY, they Have to start with a Nicotine Base which is Higher than 18mg.

But if a Vaper was to choose an nicotine amount that was Lower than 18mg, say 15.3mg, then they could use 18mg Nicotine base and then just add Flavoring/Sweetener.

It's all just Numbers. And how Hard/Easy you want to make DIY.

oh i agree with that totally but you did not inform a new DIY'er that it would not be 18mg when you add flavs and sweetners but made sure to say keep accurate notes when that would be anything but accurate thats all i was referring to it kinda sent a wrong message but maybe i misunderstood what you were thinking and not writing
