Taking the plunge...

I've been smoking for about 15 years. Tried to quit numerous times with little success. A friend of mine picked up a Blu started set and offered me a couple of hits. Much to my surprise, I got the nicotine hit I needed and sure didn't miss the taste of tobacco. The experience certainly made me very curious about "vaping".

Anyway, I found this forum (a great boon to my research, by the way!) I placed an order with AltSmoke for an eGo started set, extra atomizers and cartomizers (might as well give both a shot, eh?) I also ordered the "Welcome to..." juice set from Johnson Creek (seemed like a nice selection of flavors and accessories.)

I wanted to thank the members and administrators of this forum for all of the advice, tutorials, reviews and other pertinent information. It really helped me pick a product that, I think, will be perfect for my needs! I really do hope to kick tobacco cigs completely!

Now, if that order will just get processed... LOL!

Thank you! I didn't know that AltSmoke was an Ohio company until I had completed my order. I'm glad I can support an Ohio vendor with my purchase! ;)

I feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas! LOL!

LOL! Thats awesome BP! Welcome to ECF. Sounds like you did your research and are off to a great start. You will be amazed at how quickly most of the vendors represented here will ship your orders and the care they show their customers. Congrats!

Now...for something a little different...

Welcome To The eGo Squadron bearpaws5!

Good choice!

I've seen the Boge name pop up often. I will have to give them a try next time. I ordered a pack of the Yeti-C cartomizers. I'm not sure if I got the right thing or not, but I hope they work. They say they are a one-time use product, but I'm sure they can be refilled.

I like using Boge cartomizers (blanks) on my 510-threaded devices. Nice cartos. Ego could use the standard resistance or since it is 450mah+ battery it can use either of the LR hotter ones (use up your battery charge faster) - LR 2.0 (hotter) or the harder to find medium level 2.5

After much research here, I wanted to make sure I tried both methods. I've read so many good and bad things about atomizers, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt for now. I'm not sure if I will enjoy the process of cleaning them, etc. I am somewhat concerned about the atomizers not lasting very long but, when comparing the costs, I guess there's not a huge difference between replacing cartomizers or replacing atomizers.

I guess the big deciding factor for me will be which one vapors/tastes better! :)

Welcome to the ECF and congrats on your decision. Prepare to be amazed at how fast your body will respond to your better way of getting nicotine. My theory is that it's fast because vaping not only stop putting bad stuff in, but also pumps a lot of water through your system, which speeds things up. Which, by the way, brings up rule number one when vaping--stay hydrated. Best of luck on your journey. :vapor:

@bearpaws, mind if I towel off with you? I just plunged in also. I agree with you! This forum was invaluable to me in making my first purchase and gaining some knowledge of vape devices. I would have spent money on a kit that did not meet my needs. After hours of reading and late nights, I decided it was time to quit reading and make a choice. I went with an eGo and cartos from Madvapes. I'm now waiting for the mail to arrive with my shiny new "toy". Hugs, Sky

I don't mind at all! I agree with you... without this forum, I likely wouldn't have made good choices with selecting hardware.

@bearpaws, I know right! My kit should be here tomorrow or Saturday. I'm ready. Have you read about direct feed box mods? If I like this, that is what I will be saving to buy. No filling anything. That's for me.

@chaos, I'm assuming VV is variable voltage? I've read about this, but not quite understanding why this is an advantage. More volts=more heat? more vapor? more chance for someone like me to blow the thing up in my face? also, what carto brand and resistance would you recommend? I'm not going to be using an atty for now.

I read and read until my eyes hurt. I had no idea that there was so much to absorb. I wish the thing would just get here so I can understand better. XD Hugs, Sky

We might get our gear at the same time! LOL! I keep checking the tracking information.

I've been reading a lot about dripping and tanks... just not sure that would be right for me. Not opposed to trying, though!
