Taking the time to make my next purchase but wanted some veteran insight

So I am new to vaping but I have been doing a lot of research even before I began...right now I just have the basic 808-d batteries and am thinking about getting either an iTaste MVP or a Billet Box (when they actually get more in stock). Personally I wanted something that is low maintenance and is going to last for at least two years or more. So, what I'm getting at is whether or not it is worth investing in replacing batteries or not, etc. I know this is long winded but which is the best for someone who ants some things that mods offer but not the full time commitment, if that makes sense. Also in the Billet Box is there caution that should be taken because of the two batteries instead of one? Thnx

First off, there is very little caution to be taken with the Billet's two-battery design. When using two-battery APV, best-practice is to have 'paired batteries'; this just means to keep the same two batteries together, in the APV or in the charger. For example, if you have four batteries, take a marker and write "1" on one, "2" on the next ... "3" ... "4". Now keep "1" and "2" together - either in the APV or on the charger (only until fully charged ). The same for "3" and "4". This helps prevent the batteries from becoming 'unbalanced' - having different charges. It's a good idea to, at least, occasionally check the voltages of the individual batteries with a multimeter as a check of balanced charges.

Batteries have a finite life, they will eventually not be able to be charged. Because of this, the iTaste will eventually have to be tossed or you will have to tear it apart and find a replacement li-po battery. Will this be within two years? That's hard to say and depends on a number of things; but mainly how many times it will need to be charged. I've seen statements that li-ion batteries can be recharged up to 500 times.

APVs with replaceable li-ion batteries should last until they break, just buy new batteries when the old ones die.


I don't have either of these APVs; but would not hesitate to purchase either, they both seem to be good units.

Tomcatt did a good job of covering the battery question. I'd just like to add that 2 batteries in parallel are safer than 2 stacked batteries. So there's little to worry about with the Billet box.

I have an MVP and it's an ok mod but I don't really like the idea of a built in battery. Once it's dead the mod is garbage.

If you are looking for suggestions for good low maintenance mods, I'd have to recommend the Provari. I have a Provari mini so I know how reliable, durable and low maintenance it is. I've dropped mine on asphalt and not a mark on it and it still performs like new. These have a proven track record and will last way longer that 2 yrs so you can't go wrong with one. It's more expensive than the MVP but you get a lot more. The reg size Provari is about the same price as a Billet Box. I have no experience with the BB so I can't comment on it's performance, reliability or how long it will last.
