I ordered my first e-cig tonight and I am so excited!! I decided to go with the 901. Anyway, I was wondering if there were any links or anyone had any advice on how to talk to (possibly skeptical) analog smokers? I have a very dear friend with Lupus and a blood disease that smokes about 1/2-1 pack a day and she is having mini strokes. I would LOVE to see her convert, but I'm not sure how to go about talking about it. I'm not sure how to talk about the FDA and safety as well as other aspects. I figure the best thing to do would be to take mine when I get it and let her try it. Hopefully, it will convince her. :)

Thanks!

I would just start by vaping around her. My experience is that smokers are naturally curious about e-cigarettes. I have started vaping at work the last day and a half, and I get lots and lots of questions. I also get lots of people who want to try mine. (that got old real quick.)

The Freaking Dumb Arses (FDA) will come up eventually, I would recommend just giving the facts, such as they are (personally I think they are full of it), and let them make their own decision: Either continue smoking cigarettes, which we KNOW are bad, or switch to vaping, which is still up in the air somewhat. You can also point to all the testimony from people who have been vaping for a while now, and what they are saying. Good luck trying to find someone who is complaining about feeling worse than with analogs!

Just remember, ultimately you can lead a horse to vaping, but you can make them suck.

Ditto what Lloyd says. The more nonchalant about it you are, the more they want to know about it. I'll be placing a wholesale-size order in two weeks because so many people at work have seen me use it and now they want one.

When it comes to the FDA, I tend to go the route of, "So you have all the facts, the FDA hasn't approved these devices. I'm not a doctor, so I can't say for certain, but from the research I've done on the ingredients, I figure even if it's harmful, it can't be nearly as harmful as the tar and other chemicals in traditional smoking."

I can't tell you how many people don't even care that it's not FDA approved. They love that it doesn't smell, that it doesn't stain their teeth, that they can use it indoors, and that they know exactly what they're inhaling instead of the mystery combination in cigarettes.

And frankly, I think some of them just like how they look. A good portion of interest is the novelty of it.
