Ok, I'm a noob and am likely making mistakes. Have some tanks and cartos I bought from the local JucyVapes store in Volo Illinois (nice to be able to walk in and buy things!). For a week now, I've been rotating a couple DC size tanks/cartos on my LT and things have been working pretty well. Today, I decided to change the carto on one of the tanks and couldn't get a decent hit from it to save my life. Didn't seem flooded (no juice in my mouth, just very little vapor and very dry. I did prime the carto with about 10 drops and dry hit it several time. Thought maybe I simply had a bad carto so I tried another new one. Same problem! Went back to the old carto and get good hits again. Did I do something wrong or possibly got two bad cartos in a row? Beginning to lose confidence in the tank/cart system. Recommendations???

I think what you probably did was set your end cap down too low on your carto. You didn't say what type of cartos you're using...whether they have a flange or not. I prefer the cartos without the flange, but you have to be careful that you aren't covering the holes on the carto with your end caps down at the bottom of the tank. The edge of the carto end where the threads are, should be flush with the bottom of the end cap. (does this make any sense to you? It's hard to explain without showing people sometimes) I did the same thing a few times when I first started using tanks...I thought I had a bunch of bad cartos, then I tried pushing the carto down alittle more from the end cap, and WOOLA! Instant vape! lol!

Thanks Kay. It is a flanged carto and is pushed up into the tank as far as possible. I'm not really sure what brand carto they are. The store didn't seem real clear either. They said they might be Smokteks. It seems to hit initially, but then stops, meaning on the initial draw, it starts producing taste and vapor, but by the end of the draw, there's little taste or vapor.

Your priming may not have taken. I usually do all that you have done, then rest the tank assembly in an empty shot glass for at least a few hours, if not overnight. There is a lot of space in the carto tube. The 10 drops will help draw liquid from the outer tube into the carto, but that is a small hole! Patience, Grasshopper!

I generally prime mine with 10-15 drops, then fill lthe tank and let sit for about 15 mins.
Carto Hole punching has a lot to do with the wicking process. Too small, burn up the carto, too big you flood em. Takes some practice if you're doing it yourself. Also, many of the import ones sold have a very tiny hole punched, that is often the culprit.

Does anybody knows the lifespan of a tank carto?
I vape around 3 to 4 ml a day with menthol ejuice using 4.5v with a 2 ohm carto.
Thank you.

I use Smoktech dual coil 1.5 ohm carts. I vape 4 ml a day and I get a week from one. I was getting 3 or 4 days until I started enlarging and adding a second hole. I have sliced drilled and punched. I have settled on the punch, 2 of them. I believe it keeps the filler material wetter and helps the carto go a week. I like the punch because its fast and easy, and doesn't leave metal particles on the filer. I use a sharp drywall screw and a hammer. There are some good post here some were about using a 1/4 inch pipe saddle valve. The ones that you tap your copper cold line with to run to your ice maker. About 5 bucks and home improvement stores. This may be good if your not conformable with the hammer.
