Received my first tank ever last payday. Fast shipping!! I'm happy..... EXCEPT..... how come everyone else gets a purple or pink drip tip on theirs but I get plain old black???
So totally not fair to a purple nut like me.

Will there be DT color choices in the future?

Uma,

The pinkish tips that came with the tanks were from our first batch of tanks. Our second batch came with the black ones. Really can't control which one they give us but they basically put on the ones they have most of. That's the reason we put "Tip color may vary" in the decription. We actually have some that have clear tips on them. We do get them from the same company though so they are the same tank/same carto just different color tip.

I replaced the ~1/4" tip o-ring with an ~3/16" o-ring and it works fine. A box of 10, 3/16" o-rings will cost you about what a drip tip costs.

Oh! Good idea to have spares on hand! I saw Vapians tank tutorial and he shows how to not shread the o-ring. But I'm sure I'll forget as time goes on.

I have always found a little VG makes them slide right in

That works great for putting them together, and I've often seen reviewers do that. It's a good tip.
Some tanks, like this one we're talking about, arrives pre-assembled. Which is fantastic for the newbie tank owner, to see how it all fits together in the end. But sometimes the punched hole in the carto might have a jagged edge, and that little piece of jag will tear up the o-rings. Vapian's tutorial has a work around that. By taking off the end caps first, then sliding out the carto, it miminizes the tearing of the 0-ring should your particular carto have a jag. Lightly sanding the carto's punched hole jag will remove the jag and now you're good to go for sliding. The carto's bought seperately can be inspected and tinkered with before use, but the ones pre-installed in the tank need extra precaution. It's simple to do, it's no big deal, plus we learn the tank and it's quirks while preparing to use it. :)
