Tank Confusion/Debate- Input requested

Hi all,

Firstly, if this is in the wrong place I apologize and please move if needed (I did look to see if there was a tank-specific thread and was unsuccessful).

I'll try to be brief.

My hubby & I are both new to vaping.

His set up is a Pico with the Melo III tank plus a Nautilus Mini.

Mine is an iStick 30 with a Nautilus Mini.

I've been talking about sub-ohm vaping and buying a new tank for that purpose but thought I'd try it out on hubby's Melo III (with a .5 occ coil) before spending anymore money but I am interested in the Atlantis 2 for sub-ohming.

He wants to jump in and buy another tank. His work buddies are telling him to get a Cleito or Crown II.

I guess my questions are:

Is there a huge difference between the Melo III and the Cleito or Crown (I've been reading good things about the Melo and so-so things about the Cleito & Crown II)?

Is there an optimal wattage to use the Melo III with the .3 (the one that was pre-installed) at for best performance/flavour?

If he's using a 60/40 vg/pg juice, is that suitable for sub-ohming?

Will getting a unicorn bottle help with the tight filling ports on the Melo?

Lastly, as I'm looking at the Atlantis 2 for myself at some point, I am curious about others' experiences using it with the .5 coils in the 20-30W range.

As an aside, neither of us is remotely interested in getting in to building our own coils yet.

If my questions don't make sense, please let me know in your replies

okay, so, by the numbers
not familiar with Melo III, but the Cleito is a very solid tank (LOTS of airflow) and the Crown II, from what I am seeing, is being touted as an excellent successor to the original Crown - and the original Crown remains one of my favorite tanks (works great, great airflow, coils last a good bit, easy top fill, VERY user friendly) - if you are only hearing so-so things about Cleito and Crown II, would suggest checking some more reviews, for sure

optimal wattage is really going to be a personal preference (depends on a lot of factors, including the juice - different juices on same setup can 'prefer' different wattanges) - always want to start lower and work way up to find 'sweet spot'

60% vg should be fine for sub ohming - i tend to use a 70%, but again, preference

unicorn bottle. YES

Atlantis 2 is a decent tank (small juice capacity, though, for me) - may want to look at Triton II instead - same coils... I generally run my .5 ohm coils in the 30-35 watt range, again, though, preference

If I had to make a recommendation - Crown. Have not tried the II yet, but the original is exceptional - but will need a device capable of up to 35-40 watts possibly for the .5 ohm coils (your 30w iStick is going to have challenges being maxed all the time to run it and will still be a little underpowered)

After posting I thought a lot of what I was wondering about might come down to preference. I guess I was/am just wanting someone to tell me what to do ...lol. I am using my hubby's Melo III on my iStick 30 @ 20W and it's ok...honestly, I got used to slipstreaming the Nauti and got great vapour, flavour (for me) and used very little juice (maybe 4ml a day @ 12mg nic) so I'm finding the Melo is not dense enough so far but it's only been a few hours and I'm playing around with it for the sweet spot mentioned.

Hubby actually did get the Cleito today (plug for Chrome Vape in Oakville - Nice place, nice people, free Unicorn!!) and so far he really likes it and the few pulls I took were great. Love the coils in them!

Anyway...I will continue on my journey and eventually figure out what works for me. I agree though that the iStick 30W will fall far short of where I may eventually want to vape at so I probably will get another mod sometime in the future.
