I am sitting here looking at all these CE2 tank mods and I got to wondering:

Would it be possible to remove the steel shaft off a Boge Carto, Remove the stock filler. Make one of the tank mods then put Fluval filler around it to fill in the tank? You could change it out the same way as the tank mods just would have filler vs the wicking system. Am I nuts or would this work out? I've checked about 15 pages back in the modding section and have not seen anything about this. (I happen to have a bunch of boge carts and no CE2's or I would make one of those.)

Thanks all,

Dan's design starts from scratch, has the coil at one end and the filler going into the fob and has a tube for the vapor going up the center. The A1 or A2 does something similiar. These seem to rather far from the OP's request...

It seems simpler and more cost effective to just use up the standard cartos as they are or keep them for emergency reserve and get a pack of CE2's and go with one of the many tank mod designs floating around here based around the CE2 innards. I've got 10 or 15 regular cartos that I really don't plan on vaping and have been eyeing them lately for parts. :)

I was putting dual coil carto in a 3ml tube and ran across an empty 5ml tube - well, had to try it. Wrapped the packing in 80x80 ss mesh to hold it in place. Really, there is nothing restricting the juice and it is a total flood when the outer tube is filled.

When the tube is full - massive flooding. Just a little (1/4 inch) in bottom of tube is ok. I think it would probably work by adding packing to the outer tube and restricting the flow of the juice to the coils - BFM would probably do the trick. You would have an increased capacity... it would be very close to ScubabatDan's pill case mod.

Drilling or slicing the outer carto tube to allow limited flow has been known to work. Not sure what effect the 400x ss mesh would have, but it seemed a waste to try that one out... I suspect the same results from the 400x since it would wick straight in. Had I the time I'd play around with it... but every step will decrease the utility - if it ain't quick and easy, what's to gain?

Well it sure looks cool. With how you describe, I'd say the lower positioning of the coil is the limit for juice level and with any method of letting juice seep in, holes, slots or mesh of any size, the juice will saturate over time until there is equilibrium on both sides of the barrier and likely flooding. The best I got from these was when using with some sort of bottom feeding, the filler acted as a sponge to to take up a lot of excess between juicing.

I liked it's looks too – I think that was most of the thought when I saw that 5ml tube... shame it turns out to be only window dressing.

I think you're right about the coil positioning and equilibrium - don’t ya just hate fluid dynamics sometimes! Packing the outer tube would probably work as long as the two mediums balanced out the juice, but then it kind of loses that ‘industrial charm’.
