I have had a J-Tank on my pass through from ENS for almost 6 months

I want to build a passthrough that will look good and be stable (be able to stand it up on a table) with a tank on it... or convince one of the experienced modders to start building them. :) There really isn't anything out there for the tank/rebuildable atty crowd in terms of passthroughs. The little passthroughs will work but the tiny dimensions aren't ideal for me to use them that way.

I use a V2 passthrough (808 connection) with a 510 adaptor. Got a liquinator with a boge 2.0 inside it. It works really well. I always have problems though when trying to connect anything below 2 ohms. I tried a 1.5 ohm dual coil, but it won't fire. 2.0 ohm single AND dual coils always work though. 1.5 ohm is too low, and the passthrough thinks it a short probably.

Do you use it on your computer? My sister plans to use hers that way.

If you are using a 5v (no battery) PT the computer USB port won't supply enough amperage to power LR cartos, and will even be a reduced voltage with a SR carto.
You need to use a powered USB hub rated at 2 amps or higher. The computer USB port is only 1.5amp.

True, but I'm actually using it on my computer and it works. I'm probably not using the full potential/5 volts of the passthrough, but it does fire solid and reliably. Interestingly enough, it will only fire for a second or two and then stop when I try to use my 5v 2amp usb wall powered adapter - I have no idea why, because this is how you're 'supposed' to do it, and that's the only reason I bought the wall adaptor. I also realize that the potential is there to harm the usb port, but the 2.0 ohm boge carto seems to be working in this setup (with the computer power).

Even if the PT is reduced in performance, it's still a satisfying experience. The computer usb port even fires 2.0 dual coils as well, but won't fire 1.5 ohm dual coils. The 2.0 dual coil also acts funny on the 2amp usb wall wart, so the wall adaptor is probably the problem now that I think about it. My 2 amp car usb adapter works fine with everything mentioned though. Weird huh

You're pulling 3.3 amps. I would suspect the wall-mount power supply's internal protection is kicking in and would appear that it's a self resetting component since it keeps coming back. Ground the sense pin on an ATX power supply and hook up to the 5V output. There's enough current available to run up 10 at the same time :)
