So, I've finally experienced the dreaded ProTank II gurgle, immediately followed by a mouthful of juice. Yuck! I imagine it's a coil issue as I've never had this problem before. However, I'd like your recommendations of tanks you all swear by. I'm a Kanger guy as I use the ProTank II and the AeroTank, exclusively. I'm willing to branch out. Thanks, in advance!

gurgling it always an issue with bottom coil tanks, and it is magnified by a 510 interface.

Use a miniprotank2 or just the base of it onto the protank and the problem won't get magnified.

The coils tend to leak the longer you use them; rewicking fixes the problem. When I'm too lazy to rewick I just keep it upside down.

Kayfun 3.1 ES

And before you scoff at the suggestion, how many people here who have recommended tanks also rebuild their own coils? If you're going to rebuild a coil anyways, why not go for one of the best RBAs instead of a standard clearo? It's far, far, FAR easier to recoil a Kayfun than it is a BDC.

And if you're thinking "those Kayfuns are expensive though" go have a look at the prices on Ebay. You can get a KFL+ of Kayfun 3.1 ES for about the same price as a Nautilus, and you'll never have to jump through hoops to rebuild a coil or have gurgling problems ever again.

Also, a friend let me borrow his Aspire BDC. He doesn't like it but I don't think it's half bad. They have a good system for keeping juice away from the air flow area.

I don't care for the large Aspire tanks. I had a terrible time with flooding and leaking but finally realized it was due to airflow. It sits too close to the top of my mod and creates too much suction. I was able to fix it for now buy using a 510 extension to raise it up until I get an airflow control. However, it still floods and leaks when the juice gets down to the atomizer level. So you can only fill it 2/3 full and it floods when it gets down to 1/3 full. However, I got the Aspire ET-S for my egos, which use the exact same atty and it's absolutely flawless. I don't know why. I can fill it up pretty full and vape it dry without a hitch.

Although I'm not the OP I just wanted to say thank you to everyone that's made their suggestions. I picked up a Vision spinner and Kanger Protank 2 mini over the weekend based off recommendations from my local vape shop. Can't complain about the battery yet, but already can't get the base off to refill properly so have been researching alternative tanks (wouldn't mind something with a bit more capacity as well) and this has been a wealth of great suggestions. Thanks again and I look forward to spilling my guts about what I find out when I chase some of these tanks down.

That would probably be because the Aspire ET-S uses the eGo thread and not the 510 thread.

Here is another suggestion. The Smok Tech Pyrex Aro tank. It is a nice bottom coil tank, holds 3.5 ml. and is inexpensive. I have several and use them with my Spinners and also with my new MVP 2. It is glass, so works with all juices. I've had no problems whatsoever with leaking with these tanks.

Best tasting tank right now IMO is the Nautilus. http: //www .ebay .com/itm/Aspire-Nautilus-Airflow-Control-Dual-Coil-Glassomizer-Kanger-Protank-Innokin/271430562168?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20466%26meid%3D5905135762832008138%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D9138%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D281273236354 free shipping. Good deal.

Why would the threading make a difference?

The 510 thread is a great interface for cigalike cartomizers.

But when you want to use a clearo or rebuildable, that small 510 interface ends up being the location of several problems:

1: airflow
inconsistent airflow: eg: people often find themselves leaving the tank slank to get some airflow

2: electrical
center pin problems: to tighten down the tank firmly, one tends to screw down too hard on the center pin, resulting in electrical problems

3: mechanical
a 9mm diameter thread is fine for a 9mm diameter cartomizer, but for a wider tank, a wider diameter like the 14mm eGo, gives a solid mechanically sound hold whereas the 510 thread tends to leave the tank rocking.

If you aren't into rebuilding then the nautilus is a solid clearo. I'm in the group of folks who suggest the russian 91% or kayfun 3.1. Since I've started on them, I've gifted both of my nautilus tanks and replacement atty heads to a friend new to vaping. They don't take long to get the hang of and the vapor production and flavor are way better than any clearo I've tried....and the cost of keeping them going is a fraction of buying new atomizer heads. I spose one would be buying more juice because vaping would be much better.
IMO. :toast:
