If you get a new battery like the istick 30 watt you'll be moving into a whole new world with the nautilus. Very large flavor increase from where you are now.

I honestly don't know what that would be like, as I have been happy with the flavor.. it is actually probably the biggest thing that helped me quit smoking; smoking something with great flavor (One I personally like) instead of cigarette crappy ash tray flavor!

It's also what makes it difficult to smoke a cigarette now.. the flavor. I almost puke now from a cigarette because it tastes so bad in comparison to the e liquids.

The only problem I have found with what I am smoking is that it's harsh on my throat, and when I get sick (as I recently have) I very nearly cannot smoke the e-cig because it hurts my throat (which was sore from coughing from being sick)

You might think of going to 1.2%(12mg/ml). Maybe just get a bottle of a lower nicotine just to try. Nicotine can add to the harshness of a juice and if you've been doing it for a year or so you could probably step down.

How many cigarettes per day did you smoke?

Two issues are affecting the sore throat, (called throat hit) nicotine level and the pg content of your juice. You can lower one or both and the vape will become smoother. 1.8 is a pretty high/marlboro level, you could try lowering to 1.2% (lights) and a lot of the harshness will subside. You should probably consider this if you get the Nautilus anyway. The other option is to get a higher vg juice, (assuming you are using a 50/50 blend now). I'd recommend a 40 pg/60vg blend.

1.8 is 18mg nicotine. That will give a noticeable throat hit. I started with 18mg 3 months ago, and have now dropped to 6mg mostly. I still use 12mg for situations where I will only be able to vape occasionally.

Maybe keep a small amount of lower nic juice around for when you are having throat problems. Hmmm, mMaybe even a light menthol to cool the throat. I think I'm going to remember that. Thanks!

I was a 1-1/2 to two pack a day full flavor cigarette smoker.. When I didn't buy off brand I bought Marlboro Reds so you know the comparison. For me, 1.8% was low, and barely enough for me to quit smoking.

Granted, its been awhile now, but I don't feel like I am ready to lower the nicotine level yet - for me its enough that I am not taking in a million tons of extra carcinogens..I can actually breathe now.. lol..

I actually may try to change up the blend as you said.. that might be a good idea, as well as maybe change flavor when I am sick next time.. might be good as well..

I am thinking lowering nicotine level is not a good idea for me yet.. but if I ever get that sick again I may have to try that too.. (was a horrible summer cold that went around, everyone around was sick.. inescapable that one was!)

When I went to lower my nicotine I bought the step down juice. Then I kept the higher nic in a cheap tank. I would vape the lower juice and if it got to where I couldn't scratch the itch I would simply hit the higher nic once or twice and then go back to the lower nic juice. It usually only took me 3 days to a week to adjust to the lower nic and all itches were then scratched. It was much easier than I thought it would be. Plus if you get the Nautilus you'll probably want to lower the nic because it's more efficent a vape than what you're using now. Just my 2 cents...

In my opinion the lower nic juices are more flavorful. I would buy a small bottle of the lower nic and try it. You might be really surprised at how much better the vape is and more enjoyable to use.

When I had a cold this summer I vaped red hot cinnamon for a week. Menthol also works well.

First let me say, I am not a DIY type person. I am a graphics artist and photographer... I am in no way shape or form some kind of a repair man!

I use the Ego battery 1100MAH with the 510 threads... but those tanks leak and I have to replace them consistently. I can do so cheaply (as I buy 10 of the tanks for 13.00 and replace them as needed) but it is kind of a pain...

I would like to talk to people about tanks that don't leak, and will last as long as a battery (about a year) that will screw onto my battery.. that I don't have to fix and/or learn a new trade simply to be able to smoke.

I simply want to smoke... not fix and repair. I want something to put e-liquid into and smoke it and be done with it..

I have heard Kanga tanks are good? But I have also heard about people having to learn how to repair them or some such thing too.. I don't know..

what can I purchase inexpensively that will suit my needs... is it a Kanga tank? Or another kind?

Can anyone help me?
I have had very good luck with the GS-H2 tanks $10.83 GS-H3 Bottom Coil Clearomizers (2.0mL / 7-Pack) 7-pack - ships with one of each color / 2.4ohm at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping as well as the protank 2s https://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10005980/1460902-protank-ii-style-bottom-coil-clearomizer-2-5ml.replacement coils are very inexpensive for these tanks $2.55 Replacement Coil Heads for MT3 / H2 / Protank and More (5-Pack) 5-pack - 2.4ohm at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping welcome to ECF and good luck quitting tobacco

There are two extreme ends of the spectrum in vaping:

1: you keep buying replacement stuff: example you just buy disposable njoy kings .
Buy, use, toss.
The most expensive option.

3: full blown DIY:
you get a rebuildable dripping atomizer, and a mech, a needle bottle, and you mix your own liquid.
And you even vape on a wire instead of using batteries ! (Hardly anybody goes that far)

Most people are somewhere in between:

A popular setup nowadays is the istick30 with a nautilus mini.
The istick should provide long battery life and convenient charging.
The nautilus you will have to replace the coil head every few days or weeks depending on how much you vape.

This is a pic of the battery I have.. if this helps..

I don't understand anything about coils.. or ohm... or understanding of wattage.. just so you know..
I still have some1100mah ego batteries I use when im on my bicycle or hiking. this discussion got me curious so I did a little test. the battery would not fire my orchid V4 with a 0.67 ohm build but had no problem firing my EK V3 with a 1.2 ohm build.battery life would be short but if you want more vapor and a stronger hit you could use a kanger subtank with a 1.2 ohm coil on that battery

the only drawback with the i stick is that the battery is not replaceable. after around 300 charges the battery is worn out and you need to replace the whole unit making the i stick a disposable. there are also reports and threads on this forum about the I STICK 30 "auto firing" resulting in overheated batteries.be sure to read the reviews and do your research before choosing a unit.
