Tarnish on copper finish

Just want to find out if there are any problems I should look out for with my infinity copper finish. It is really showing some discoloration and I feel is starting to look a lot better as the copper tarnishes. But I looked at my hands last night and could tell that some tarnish was getting on them(green thumb=better growing?). Just wondering if I should try to clear coat it or if it will cause any harm.

If/when it gets to the point of discolor you like. Then clear coated it.

I watched a guy on TV building a copper Harley. He put some patina on it to change the color to make it look old and antique looking then cleared it. It was blue in some places. Anyway just make sure you use a non-toxic clear.

That is an interaction with your skin chemistry , like how some women cannot wear Silver , I have seen some that tarnish really fast and others that have no tarnish .

We ordered BRASS and got COPPER ?? WTH !

it's almost living the way it's tarnishing, every few days it's different, i like it a LOT, I may pollish it back to fresh metal if it stops changing.

Different people, different chemistry. I can not ware anything that has silver or is it nickle, turns green in just a couple of weeks. But i'm happy with the copper changing as long as it doesn't cause any problems with health/equipment. Just have to add copper to my list to stay away from.

If it starts to irritate you hand that would be a sure sign to cover it IMO , other wise I do not know.

You should look it up and see if you can find any info on this interaction .

Having the same problem, I love my Infinity. It is beautiful when it's polished, could anyone suggest a clear coat.

You could also put a clear big shrink wrap or vinyl and trim the holes for the switch and etc. if it bothers your hand. As long as you keep moisture and air from getting to it.

Try Mothers mag polish, it'll clean it and Polish it at the same time.

We are thinking of just clear coating all of the copper tubes at this point , any objections ??????

How about a gender option: male (uncoated, tarnished, gnarly & macho) and female (clear-coated, shiny, prissy & feminine)?

Just seal them off and dip them in resin. Then you won't have people yelling about scratched up ugly mods after a couple weeks. It would be hard to find paint that would stick good to copper.

We clear coated Bovinias Infinity , how is it working out BOV ?????

we used an acrylic clear coat on it .
