Tasted bad, then good, then burnt?

My M402 came the other day, and it tasted horrible at first, but then I saw a post here about blowing the primer out of the atomizer, did that, and it was fine. Hadn't left it charging long enough to take it to work with me, so I didn't.

Now it's stopped tasting fine, I don't get much of the flavor, just tastes mostly like burnt popcorn. I left the thing sitting on its side, the cart doesn't look dried out - I only had a few test puffs anyhow, could it be flooded? I don't have another atty to test out. Also, is it supposed to make a sizzling noise?

While I do not have that model, if it is new some atty ship with a primer on them which has a bad taste. Blowing out etc can help. Aside from this if atty is dry you get burnt taste. As far as atty sizzling, yes they do that, but it can be from either liquid sizzling ( good thing) or fibers in the dry atty burning off (bad thing)

If you have any E-juice or even just straight pg or vg, I would suggest putting 1-2 drops on the atty and see if this helps. If that fails, the atty may simply need a break in period before it hits a sweet spot. Last ditch, try another atty.

My 510 atty went through a sizzling phase, ran hotter than I liked then, but did calm down to a slow simmer eventually.

I would say it may be more of an issue with it not wicking properly or possibly a bit clogged.

I can't garauntee that any of this will remedy your situation but try these things.

Take a bit of paper towel and twist it at the end and push into the atomizer. let it sit at an angle for some time. The paper towel with wick away any juice thats within the atomizer within a short amount of time.

You can also try placing it in a pot with boiling water for a few minutes to clean the pores of the bridge.

Being that you get flavor and vapor when you drip it sounds like its just not wicking well at all. I have one that did that and once cleaned it came back to life remarkably well.

I went through this with my 501. The first 5 - 6 days I had it I would get a good flavor for a few hits and then that burning taste. I wouldn't worry about it being anything horrible. There is a slight learning curve to get adjusted to each different model.
What kind of E-juice are you using? I have had some that packed a good flavor but were easy to burn and get that awful taste. I switched brands of liquids and had much better results.
One other thing is the "cart alignment." If the cart is not lined up properly with the atomizer then slight burning can occur and give a burnt plastic taste. Do a search for this and you can see several techniques.

I tried blowing out the thing again, then putting some juice on, got a bit of the juice flavor through, but it's still mostly burnt popcorn. And don't have another atty to try with.

I did a search here and got the post where someone was vaping lithium from their battery and it was tasting like that - it doesn't happen often, does it?

I suspect you have an auto battery? I never read about the lithium leakage, but as I use manuals I think it would much less an issue on them.

I have had the ends on my plastic carts melt a bit however, and while aligning them with the bridge can help if thats the issue, trimming them may be a better soltion esp if your atty run hot at the moment.

Guys you are getting confused between battery leakage, and battery CASE letting juice leak in.

Inside the batt case (the part you hold and see) is a lithium battery. Juice can sometime leak into the batt case, in no sealed models and short the electronics and batt out. This is what people are talking about with a "leaking batt".

The lithum battery itself, inside the case, is SEALED in all models. It is the same and a AA Energizer batt you buy at the store. Its sealed. If it were to leak, it would be so damaged it would not be producing power. You will NOT be inhaling lithium.

To vape the lithium, the batt would have to be melting down and be a small fire. It will most likely expolde long before you would be foolishing enough to hold a on fire buring e-cig and take a drag.

If I modded the cart to make it shorter, wouldn't it be more likely to melt the fibers inside that hold the juice?

I'm using JC, BTW, old formula that I got on sale.

I'm not really sure how I could align it, I did a search, but the cart's round on both the inside and the outside, so no idea how I could tell an up from a down inside *that*...

The "vaping lithium" thing comes from the "Pilot batteries dead after 2 weeks" thread, which I found by searching "burnt popcorn" - as it was an M401 involved, that's why I was a little paranoid!

Bitterblossom,

It sounds to me like left over primer and / or a lack of juice. I would top off the cart with juice then puff it like a cigar. (don't inhale)

There is a catch 22 here. Its unlikely you could blow out all the fluid, and if you did it would then be too dry.

I'd try letting it "run" awhile like an old car. Add juice and puff away the primer.

If all this fails perhaps contact the vendor and see if they can help or replace it. It is always possible that your atty is defective.
