She says it's her bottom teeth, then she points to the bottom front four. It took me half a week to re-learn now to draw and I told her to keep at it, but the pv just sits there. Meanwhile, every time she lights an analog she hits trigger for me and I struggle to vape through it. I wouldn't say she's really ever complained about teeth pain or sensitive teeth in the past.

I have a small hunch she's looking for a reason to not like it. She takes such comfort in smoking and maybe is creating (possibly not even intentionally) roadblocks to success.

Whether real or not, I need to overcome her objection or fix the problem. I'm afraid her continuing her habit may torpedo my chances. I fear I may lack the will to overcome the triggers in the long run. I believe I'd be tobacco free already if there weren't smokes in the house. It’s just to easy when they're just sitting there. Even after 6 hours tobacco free, it's like 'Hello old friend'. I keep making deals with myself. Like, “I’ve been soo good, only two smokes all day, and that’s so much better than before, so 1 now is no big deal.” I’m doomed if I’m constantly negotiating the habit back into my life. Even if only 3 or 4 times a day. (I was a pack and a half)

Anyway, any ideas?

It may be dry mouth. I rinse with Biotene a few times a day, and I know that they also make gum and spray.

Is she using a drip tip? I can't see a way to use one comfortably whilst sucking through your teeth.

ETA: If she really is trying to quit, maybe you could negotiate that she not keep the smokes in the house. You'd only be asking that she go get one from the car when she wants to smoke. I would also jack up the nic that you vape. I can't imagine wanting an analog after vaping 36mg juice.

We're vapeing the Volt. I've told her to draw slower and longer, but she still hits it like an analog.

I had a pretty similar issue with the front of my mouth hurting when I first started vaping using a cigarette look alike. This was easily resolved by taking drags with different sides of my mouth. I'd stick to the left side for awhile, and then the right side, middle of the road after that. This relieved the pressure of the personal vaporizer against my teeth and lips.

The Volt may look like a cig, but it's still made out of harder material than a cigarette filter. By moving the device around as one takes drags, I've found that the sensitivity resolves itself rather quickly.

Good luck!

rubber drip tips? Only a couple o' bucks gets ya 5. I heard of gums hurting because of the increased blood flow of not smoking analogs anymore. It could be just a minor side effect that will subside. After a couple of weeks, if it doesn't get better have her see her doctor or dentist. It could be an event not related to vaping.

If she really doesn't want to quit cigs, then I don't think there is much you can do. Vaping is similar, and it gives you the nicotine which helps avoid the worst of the withdrawal problems for someone who quits cigs, but it's not the same, and if someone doesn't want to quit, they probably won't quit.

I've cut down from 3+ packs a day to 5 to 10 a day. Even if I never get off the cigs, I still consider that a big success. And I'm pretty sure it's just a matter of time before I'm cig free.

Even if you don't completely quit cigs, if it takes you from a pack and a half a day down to 5 a day, that's a whole lot of cigs that you're avoiding. I see that as a good thing.

It could be the artificial flavors in the e-liquid. Some flavors really bother my teeth, certain fruit flavors in particular. You might try another vendor or some of the organics like vaperlite or virgin vapors. Do artificial flavored candies and chocolate bother her teeth?

Not that she's ever said.

You don't need to "switch to" thick VG and lose so much TH and flavor.

Just buy some decent juices with some VG in them.

normal atomizer - can use any thickness (any PG/VG) as long as it flows at least as fast as you vape

stuffing cartomizers - I get the longer good drag and performance with 20% or less VG - try 20%

tanks and reservoir cartos - these like the thickness of 20-30% VG

Some higher VG juices (thicker juices) may work if the vendor thinned them with distilled water or something

Nicotine is a skin irritant and a known effect of nicotine is bleeding gums. What level is your nicotine?

Some other things to try:

If you are using extreme nicotine you could also consider dropping one level. For cartomizers, I use a drip tip instead of the white end cap and that brings the vapor into my mouth further back and in a wider stream, not on my gums in a tight stream. If you are biting or chewing on the hard end of the ecig, stop doing that. If you are dragging hard, drag slower so your lips are not pressing on your teeth. if you are using auto batteries, try manuals where your drag does not control whether or not vapor is being made. If you are grinding your teeth at night, try lower nicotine in the evening.

I have been vaping for three weeks now and I'm not getting so much as teeth pain...but my gums. They are inflamed a bit and has made eating a bit difficult. I have read in some various posts that part of switching over can cause mouth sores. So I've kinda chalked it up to that for now. There are other 'withdrawal symptoms from analogs' too...ughh...like zits, which I'm also getting. lol...43 years old and going through zits again!! What I've been doing to help my gums is brushing a lot more than my 3 times a day...then rinsing my mouth with hydrogen peroxide, rinsing well with warm water, rinsing with salt water and then warm water again. Seriously, it has helped. I do this 3 - 4 times a day.

Speaking of teeth, will they become whiter over time after the switch? Or is there still that build up?

Im assuming that with normal brushing they would. I had my teeth cleaned right after i started vaping (before i fully quit smoking) and ill tell you that they are still as white as they were.

Mine have gotten whiter. I brush 2x a day and rinse with a whitening mouthwash, but I did the same thing before I quit and my teeth were still gray/brown. They're not movie-star white, but they're a lot whiter than they were before. I can tell because I have a crown that was matched to my old tooth color, and now it doesn't look so hot. :(

I see a replacement crown in my near future.

+1 for this. It's -very- possible that she has smoking-related mouth pain. It's even possible to get mouth ulcers in the first few weeks after making the switch because your mouth (and most every other part of your body) is desperately trying to rid itself of toxins. Maybe pull up the full list of nic/analog withdrawal symptoms on the forum and share that with her first, so she doesn't attribute it to vaping, then find her a mod with a good, consistent throat hit and kick both of your nic levels up a notch. 36mg should definitely help to start with.
