Long story short...

I got a tekk mod about a month ago from COV. After about 2 weeks, the atomizer connector came loose and eventually came out completely. I emailed COV, who then told me to send it to someone else. It was either fixed or replaced pretty quickly.

Then about 2 weeks later, the same thing happened again. I am not tightening it too tight. I turn it until it stops. I have 2 other box mods, and haven't seen this happen before.

So, I emailed the guy who replaced it before. He's on vacation, so I need to email the modder himself. Guess what...no response. So...I go back to COV and emailed them...again no response.

EDIT: I just did get a response from Jason...let's see how it goes.

Jason was a peach. After 3 days of getting the "I will get with the modder" excuse, I email him again. He said it's been shipped. Shipped?! I said how could you have? You don't even have my address. Turns out he was thinking of a different customer.

So now, after 3 days, I am back at step 1. So what can we do here? I really don't want another one, since I have had 2 out of 2 crap out on me. It is possible to get a store credit for the value of my purchase? Thanks for your help Bruce, you definitely appear to care more about the customer than the other 2 people I was dealing with.

Thanks,

Jim

I have looked at a bunch of different box mods, and IMHO the majority of them are doomed to fail. With the exception of the REO which is all metal and purposely built for the e cig, most of them use an injected molded housing that is designed for electronic hobbyists or for some other purpose such as a usb backup battery. These boxes are just not designed to take a lot of mechanical stress. The base of the two TREK mods I saw already showed signs of cracking.

There are plenty of really tough "engineering" plastics out there such as Delrin, Lexan, PBT, Noryl, but the plastic used in many box mods is generally some cheep PVC or styrene. What is worse is the fact that they will contain a filler to make them flame ......ant or give them certain electrical properties which will make a general purpose plastic even weaker.

Used and designed wisely, plastics can easily replace metals. For instance, there are a lot of all composite aircraft out there. When I look at the base of the Trek mod, I can only say: nice idea, crappy mechanical design.
