We would love to hear your stories on how you got started into vaping, even down to who you first started ordering from, your first kits, etc. Tell us how it has helped you out, etc and give us your overall experience and what we at GotVapes can do to help more beginners and starters get into e-cigs and vaping.

We will run this through today and tomorrow midnight and at that point Max or Keela will do a random pick out of one of the testimonies to win your choice of a Silenus or a Rocket!

I started smoking at 14. After my mom died of COPD issues in September 2011, I decided it was time to try again. I had in the past tried hypnosis, patches, gum, cold turkey, drugs...nothing worked. E-Cigs were really starting to take hold when I found out about them through my husband, who heard about them on a radio commercial.

I ordered a starter kit from a website-based store whose name I can't recall. The kit was the Joyetech 510. What a pain those were, a few drops of juice at a time! It wasn't easy and I kept cheating, but finally at Christmas 2011, I swore no more. And I haven't.

I'm now 58, cigarette-free for nearly 3 years, and truly believe I couldn't have done it without the e-cig. I now use a Kanger Evod set up and I love it. I've gone from 24mg of nicotine down to 10mg, and going to shoot for 8mg next!

I was smoking for the last 10 years or so. Quit for 6 months, but I was still using dip. Then I started planning for my wedding in April 2014 and started smoking again. In August my new wife had enough and told me I had to quit. It didn't help she's in school for respiratory therapy. She was open to the e-cig idea so I bought a ego blister pack at a B&M. Started doing more research on the different mods and forums. Had a little slip in mid-August when the battery died so then I ended up with more ego type equipment to avoid that again. Now I have 2 mvps and awaiting an istick. Haven't got into the mechanicals or rebuilding yet. Finishing off my higher nicotine juices now and only order 6mg. Though I still have a bunch of 12mg to work through first. I'm still using one skoal pouch in the AM for my morning commute since I ride a motorcycle and can't vape.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

:D those are sure purty...

My story goes a little something like this; Pack a day menthol smoker, picked 'em up at 15yo and it was a constant battle from day one to just quit the stupid things. Found vaping at 28 and here I am three years later and feeling so great about keeping my addiction to cigs at bay, even during some very difficult periods in my life including the death of my ill mother. Thank god for vaping and ECF for giving me the knowledge and the POWER to keep myself smoke free! woot!

ETA: I use basic vv ego batteries and a simple ego-cc tank. I very rarely order online, I take advantage of having local shops in the area.... but I have been itching to receive some vapemail!!! :D
I use a peppermint flavor at 24 mg all day every day...I've tried many flavors but need the menthol kick and I found a lot of flavors give me migraines... I love trying tobacco flavors and am really looking for a nice one to add in my mix :)

Very nice, thanks for the contest
I smoked a pack a day, Lucky Strikes, or Marlboro reds. I quit for 8 years, when my son was young. I got divorced, started again, for about 3 years, quit again for a year, and back for two. I've tried gas station e-cigarette, and they were awful. Started vaping a month ago, and haven't had an analog since. Love vaping, but I find myself spending a ton, first a blister pack spinner, then an MVP, today I just received my istick, plus all the tanks, juices, atomizers etc... I feel so much better, and do really enjoy my new hobby lol. Next stop, dripping, hopefully...
That's my story, thanks again

After smoking 35 years I was introduced to vaping by an article emailed to me by my brother. He later bought me my first setup which was a Joyetech 510. I later got myself four of them in black and titanium or the like. Had all the gadgets (still do) like the on the go charging box etc. etc. I was fairly successful for a year or two but never completely stopped smoking. Due to not understanding about temp and humidity in the summer I went through many many atomizers at 11 bucks a pop + shipping, when in fact they were mostly still good just could not perform satisfactorily in the environment. I ended up back on the smokes full time.

Flash forward July 2014, now smoking about 40 years. Step son rolls up with his recently received birthday present from his gal, a Vision Spinner 2 with a sweet looking AeroTank mini. He says, "hey Dave try a hit off this". I accepted his offer and was more than a little surprised by the strength of the hit and the great flavor. He said that she got it for about a 100 bucks at this new Vape store in town and I should check it out. Being as I had spent much more for far less last time, I was very excited.

I quickly went online and did some research and bought my wife and I ego-T Ce4's because I could not remember what exactly he had shown me. A few days later I remembered KangerTech and ordered Vision Spinners and Protank 3 minis. Smoked my last cigarette three days later. Still had not got it right though, swear he said Protank! :) no biggie, they are/were great. A week later I did get the AeroTanks though and never looked back. It was relatively easy for me to make the switch, in fact I still can't hardly believe it. To put is quite simply, "vaping is just a more fun and is a far more satisfying experience". chicks did that line

Sometimes it is difficult to remember how strange and complicated it all seemed to be in the beginning, can be very intimidating for a new person. I was talking to a gal about coil changes on my Kanger's and noticed her eyes glazing over, I quickly asked her if she remembered back in the day when you would still change the cartridge in your ballpoint pens. This analogy was perfect and instantly put it in a familiar perspective illustrating how simple it actually is and that she could do it too..

1973:
dad passed away and I started smoking.
2013
I was back up to smoking almost two packs of day. I had tried the gum and patches. In early 2013 the wife and I ordered some cig-a-likes online. She went with 0 nic and I went 16 mg. I did my best to do them for several weeks, but they just weren't doing it. I went back to smoking. the wife went to a local B & M and got a ego style kit. I watched her vape for about 3 months.
June 2013:
I woke up one morning breathing hard. The wife asked what was wrong. I told her to get the "elephant" off my chest so I could breath. That evening after work we went to a local B & M she saw and advertisement for and I got a EGO twist and a couple of clearmizers. I got some 24 nic "tobacco flavored juice.
.I smoked my last cigarette before bed.
For the next three days I vaped like a fiend. it was always in my hand.
When I went back to work on a Monday I bummed a cigarette. I smoked it and then vaped the rest of the day.
The next day I vaped all day and that afternoon I bummed a cigarette. I finshed that day vaping.
The next morning I bummed a cigarette. I took three draws and said "this taste like crap". I flicked it in the grass. That was June 19, 2013.
I have not had a cigarette since that day.
I went to a APV about a month later after I killed my second EGO twist by pulling the top section off in my pocket. It was at that time I went to EVOD clearmizers. We were buying all our juice and hardware at the local B & M store. This when I droped to 18 mg nic.
In September I was goggling and found Discount Vapors and the link to ECF on their website.
We now purchase most of our hardware online.
We still go to the original local B & M store for a few of his custom blended juices.
We have become friends with the owners. They know that we know what online prices are and they always give us what we call the "Framily" discount.
I am down to 12 mg nic on all my juices.
I did alot of reading and now rebuild my ProTank coils
I am just venturing into mechanicals and RBA/RDA.

I was lucky to find ECF and all the friendly and helpful folks here.
I have helped three other coworkers jump into vaping.
I'm also pretty lucky with contests and that has afforded me the opportunity to PIF to several of my coworkers that are vapers.
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to tell my story and for supporting us and ECF. I think most of the vendors that are part of ECF are doing a really good job of helping and educating new vapers.

be well, be safe..RACE

Been a smoker for 45+ years, at least a PAD. Started to be " cool " when I was 14 and it was always just an occasional thing to swing with the crowd. By the time I was in high school I found myself sneaking out between classes to have a smoke because " I needed it "!! Try to think back on when it changed from WANT TO to HAVE TO! That's the sneakiness of the almighty cigarette!
Tried numerous times over the years to quit, like most, and nothing worked for more than a few days to maybe a week. Done it ALL! Pills, patches, cold turkey, hypnosis, nothing ever worked. Hell, even a minor heart attack in my 50's only worked for a short time and that only worked because you can't smoke in the hospital. So, over a week without smoking and what's the first thing I did when I got out? You got it! Stopped and got a pack of smokes! The wife was livid, but what can ya do, it's an old friend that I missed terribly.
Then, one day almost 3 months ago, I was in the local gas station and these e-cigs caught my eye. Hey, these are different! How come they have a USB plug in the package? Cool, rechargeable, replaceable cartridges, Hmm, maybe give em a try. Pretty cool, cut back on my smoking immediately. So got more interested and went online to look more into this whole thing! Found a plethora of products, info, websites, forums, holy crapola, this sounds like it is actually working for people. So people on the forums were all talking about this little box under $50 that last 1-2 days and is rechargeable. Bought one ( way more $ than I would have paid online ) but he'll, if it works it's worth it.
Moral of the story, haven't touched a smoke since that day ( OK, maybe a couple of puffs here and there in the beginning, but it SUCKED )!

What can GotVapes do to help? Get your asses out in the market! How? I'm not sure but I never heard of you until I got on ECF and started surfing around and found the weekly contest ( which I love BTW, crazy prizes and crazier people )! I have gone thru your site and you offer some good stuff for all levels of vaping you just gotta figure out how to get to them, especially the inquisitive people still smoking but looking!? Wish you guys luck!

Thanks,
Newell

I started smoking when I was 13 I am 61 now and had gotten up to 2 packs a day. My wife Linda and I have been married for 32 years and the only thing that caused us trouble in all those years was me smoking I had told her that I would quit , But eveyrthing I tried wouldn't work oh I would quit for a while then start back .It got so bad that I was hiding and smoking I mean I had it bad.I love Linda with all my heart and would give up my life for her but I couldn't quit smoking. It almost broke up our marriage. Well one day back in 2008 I saw a add on the net about something called a eletronic cigarette and started reading everything I could find . After 2 or 3 weeks of reading I ordered my first set up and e-juice it was a 401 kit from PURE SMOKER . To my surprise after 4 or 5 days I found that I wasn't even smoking the real thing and didn't even want one it has ben 6 years now and my life and my marriage couldn't be any happier . I owe my marriage to e-cigs because by now we would have been DIVORCED that's how bad it was.I am still vaping and told Linda that I vape till the day I died .'VAPE ON .

I started smoking when I was 14 because my parents did and school kids did also and I wanted to "fit" in, but at 36 years old it just doesn't seem "cool" anymore, plus with having pneumonia a year ago kinda made me realize that what I was doing to myself could have serious long term irreversible effects. I continued to smoke until my friend turned me on to vaping and who was tired of hearing me cough up a lung almost daily. He drove me to a vape shop and was introduced to a nice tank with longevity and a simple ego style battery and got 2 free bottles of juice for free. After going the ego route and always losing power I decided that if I'm gonna do this I might as well do it right, so I got a Provari and haven't looked back. I love fruity juicy and have a few tobacco flavors that do the trick when the urge to have a analog kick it. I wish I would learned about vaping along time ago but as our "hobby"evolves I'm glad I joined the vape style when I did.

started smoking when i was 7.

started vaping over 3 years ago buying kits from the gasstation. realizing how much i vaped over cigarettes, the cost of buying new cartomizers at the time was 3-4x more then it was to smoke. so i "dual using" up until i came across HALO(august 2, 2013). bought a kit and vaped the sample bottles they sent. realized i didnt like the quality of flavor from them, i found Mister-E. bought a bottle of blue voodoo and monster juice. from there i realized it was cheaper to DIY juice. so i started DIY, and after 60+$ and over 20 fruit flavors, i found i dont like fruity vapes.

then i was looking at how to further descrese the money im spending, learned how people rebuild protank heads. so i bought a few "protank" style tanks and some ready wire from FT.

since then i have 2 egos, a MVP,and alot of different "kanger style" tanks. and all my juice is DIY tobacco

I started with a cheap gas station kit to help cut down on my 24 year pack a day habit. Never actually thought I'd quit smoking. 3 weeks later I had major back surgery, Feb 27. Haven't had a stinky since. I graduated from the kit to a pro tank mini and vision spinner. Then went to a mvp2 and an Igo W. Currently use an SS private clone mod with a TOBH clone on top. Dual coil setup with 24 ga. Kenthal about .3 ohm wicked with Japanese cotton. I love finding new ways to improve my vape and to help others.

I started smoking when I was 10 years old:facepalm: mostly because I thought it was cool. I was instantly addicted and smoked and loved it for almost 31 years. For years I was a 3 pack a day smoker, then 2 packs and finally got down to 1 pack in the last couple of years. I've quit a couple of times but always went back when a stressful event happened.

My vape story begins with a trip to the local flea market. I was walking through the flea market and saw a vendor selling the ego starter kits and generic juice. I thought that the pens looked pretty cool and tried a coulple of the juices and decided to purchase a starter kit and a few juices on impulse. I didn't really want to quit smoking or even think that vaping was going to do anything for me. Like I said, total impulse buy, very expensive and overpriced impulse buy at that. I came home and loaded up my cheap little Ce4 clearomizer and never looked back. I didn't smoke another cigarette after that. I got online and started researching and found ECF and spent hours reading everything about vaping that I could find. I found a couple of juice companies online and purchased some better quality juice and upgraded from the ego to the MVP and bought a couple of mini protank 2's and haven't looked back.

It blows my mind that I went from smoking to vaping instantly. I vaped like a freight train and didn't crave cigs, I still vape like a freight train, but I've lowered my nic from 18 to 12 and now I'm at 6mg after only vaping for almost 4 months.

Since starting vaping I've given starter kits and juice to several people to help them quit smoking. Buying that overpriced starter kit has turned out to be the best impulse buy I've ever made. :D ECF has been a blessing as well, coming here and getting helpful advice and ideas and information has really helped me. The ECF community is the best online community I've ever been a part of.
