I've had my 510 for just 10 days, and I've loved every second of it. And then I had to go and screw it up. I was getting an odd taste from the atty, mainly when the liquid level in my carts was a little low. It seemed clear to me that the atty was getting a little gunked up, which was causing the odd flavor. SOOOO...I decided to "fix" it....

I should have just given it a vodka bath, because I'm convinced that would have taken care of it. Instead, I started poking around inside the atty with a ultra-slim pair of tweezers. And pulled out what I FIRST thought was a stray clump of fiber that had migrated from a cartridge over into the atomizer. Now I see that is NOT what it was, but instead a vital part of the wick. Because immediately after, the atomizer produced no vapor, and effectively DIED. I have another atomizer on its way, but I have no other ones until it shows up in the next day or two!

So I've transitioned from a 1.5 pack-a-day habit to the ecig, entirely, and after 10 days I'm going to have to buy my first new pack of analog cigarettes...I still want the nicotine, but I no longer enjoy a cigarette at ALL. I smoked a stray one last night, and it gave me a headache and left me with that ashtray aftertaste. I felt bad afterwards, physically as well as a bit mentally, as I couldn't help but feel a bit guilty for seemingly "breaking" my embargo on analogs! Not the best way to start the new week....

Sorry to hear about your mishap..... (we ALL make little mistakes as we learn - even the seasoned pros, I killed two atomizers the exact same way and reasoning).

It was however a good lesson on keeping spare parts for back-up when relying so heavily on these PV devices wasn't it ?

I've now stockpiled enough supplies to last me a year easy, and feel more "secure" in simply knowing that.

Good luck in a speedy shipment to get you back on track !!

Greg

Hey don't beat yourself up. You completely quit the analogues for 10 days and that's pretty cool. RJP44 is right on having spares handy. I gave up on all the cleaning some time ago (I can't keep anything but the car clean) and always keep some attys on hand. You know what's wierd? Some that I had given up on came back to life after draining. Anyway a valuable lesson learned. Wasn't it Frances Bacon that said "knowledge is power?"

Dionymnia,

Try not to go back to analogs but instead buy some Snus at your local tobacconist shop.

I myself never tried it but just ordered some Discrete Snus to try Tropical Bob discovery of soaking it with PG/VG, stuff it in the cartridge and there you have an alternative to ejuice in case of the ban.

The point is try not to slide back to analogs but try some other cheap and healthier (than analogs) alternatives.

I'm going to go the other way, you could smoke analogs until your parts arrive. Chain smoke them, let the ashtray fill up and keep sniffing it. When you do get them in smoke 2 analogs at at time until you want to throw up. Log the sensations into your brain until your last impression of an analog is one of disgust and nausea, and if you ever do get an analog urge while vaping, bring those thoughts into your mind.

note: this is my opinion and should not be construed as recommended course of action should any legal action be considered after the fact...

I am in the same boat but ran outta juice. If I had it to do over again it would be a PT a few attys and a couple carts with a gallon of juice. I have smoked nearly a pack and let me tell you I feel like hell!

Soo knowing that payday is coming up and bills tight there are a few things that are needed. A pt, juice and a couple attys, the pcc is fine but I love the sweet vape and the linger flavor hit off the moustache.

DEFINITELY have a spare of everything!! I hope you have more than one atty coming?

I see people recommend all of the time to take out the fibers under the bridge coil when they get that burnt taste that won't go away with cleaning. I tried that with one atty and it completely stopped creating vapor, too. Luckily I had 3 other attys! I plan to order 8-10 more for my husband & I and 2 more batteries.

lol I like Pumaman's advice - reminding myself of how distasteful the analog experience is as a whole! What I ended up doing this morning was pick up the half-pack that has been gathering dust for the past 10 days, as well as some nicotine lozenges I'd gotten quite a while back during an unsuccessful attempt to quit. So far I've only smoked two of the cigs, and used a couple lozenges. I think I'll be okay for the time being, but it definitely taught me some things.

First off, have backups! When this mishap I'd brought upon myself happened last night, I immediately went online and ordered two MORE atomizers, which should be here in the next day or two (they shipped out this morning!). I only had one atomizer right now because the other wasn't working right to begin with, and Rob from AltSmoke was AWESOME and is replacing it for me - but until it comes in, I'm without.

Second, I learned not to futz around too much with the internal things. I thought I knew what I was doing, which caused my problem, but I did learn a lot from the experience. ;)

Thanks for the great words of encouragement. I'm very happy to be kicking the analogs in general - I was telling my wife, this is what smokers have been wishing for, for years: the ability to get our nicotine in a way that doesn't require us burning tobacco, paper, and the hundreds of chemicals that make us hack up phlegm every morning, get chronic bronchitis every winter, and smell like walking ashtrays! Some people have given me crap, saying, "Well, it's not like you're really quitting - you're still addicted to nicotine." To them, I point to their morning coffee and ask them, how much worse off would it be if they had to roll up their ground-up coffee beans in paper, and burn the mix to get their caffeine hit? And then add some arsenic, some formaldehyde, and various other chemicals. It's not the drug I have a problem with (nicotine, caffeine, etc.) - it's the method of delivery that is killing me.

For the next day or so, I might just have to live with a slight odor of smoke trailing after me. But the great things is, now I can smell it - and I don't like it!!!

It's a temporary setback. Why beat yourself up?
