I recently picked up a BBM Ti in a trade. I was well aware that there was an issue with the button getting hot but I didn't care. It's just a seriously sexy bit of kit and it's titanium. Besides, it's common knowledge that BBM has developed a fix for the issue and is apparently waiting on some custom magnets before scenting it out. So, no harm no fowl...

The mod showed up yesterday and it was immediately obvious what the problem is. There is an insulator that separates the plunger from the button housing, which in turn forces all of the current through the spring... A huge no no in the world of mech mods... Leads to hot buttons and huge voltage drop.

As stated before, BBM has a fix in the works but I don't think anyone knows when it's going to be released.

Long story short, I don't have that kind of patients. It's my new toy and I want to play with it right now! So, I made a trip to Ace Hardware and I found a bronze flanged bearing sleeve that looked like it might work with a little grinding a polishing.

Part no on the case is 93276 (if I remember correctly).

After a little (more than a little actually) grinding, sand and polishing, I it got it down to this... (Before and after)

Here is what the switch looks like put back together. Notice that there is now solid metal to metal contact going from the battery contact to the switch housing...

Because the fix eliminated the battery insulator, I decided to take a page out of the Super-T play book and used a Danco #40 o-ring as the insulator.

Please note... I did not mod any part of the stock device. I simply swapped out the stock insulator with something a bit more conductive. I've been using it for a few hours now and it's hitting like a dream!

One last pic... ;)

Well the "fix" from BBM came in... And... It wasn't much of a fix IMO. better than the original but that ain't saying much...

Anyway, decided to take a slightly different approach that incorporated the brass piece for the BBM fix.

I started by taking a small piece of 8 gauge copper and grinding it down to fit in the screw hole, tapped it out to fit around the screw and added an o-ring to make the button position adjustable... Also, ditched the magnets and original spring and used a spare PAPS spring which has a MUCH better feel.

Seems to be working really nice now!
As a bonus, I got the button sitting flush with the collar and the throw down to 1/2mm. Basically feels like my Paps Lux button at the moment. Here are some pics...

Jas, got the "Jasl fix" pieces; do you take out the white insulator? (mine came with fix installed)... seems obvious but i just want to make sure.

Yea. It comes out. Gust try to be gentle. Don't want to mangle it up too bad in case to need to go back to the original fix.
