It seems to me there is an almost intentional effort to make this hobby confusing as all get-out. I have been reading for days now and while I think I can make a good choice for a starter setup, I still can't go to an online site and understand what is what. Cartomizer, Clearomizer, pass-through, drip-tip...Wow! I think the owner's manual for a brand new space shuttle would be as easy. It's no wonder that so many people just get the Blu and then end up tossing them in the drawer.

Now I'm not criticizing. Most technical hobbies are loaded up with tech-jargon. Some do a good job of breaking in their noobs and some fall short. Trial and error may be a good teacher, but it is usually expensive and wasteful. You all have already invented the wheel and I'm dead sure I won't come up with anything better. So back to reading. I'll start to get it. I'm almost sure of it.

You're right. The jargon in this endeavor has gotten just plain silly and it's hard for a newb to figure out what's what.

Acronyms, abbreviations, nicknames all make for a confusing and steep learning curve that's unnecessary. Then people start throwing out brand names and their makes/model designations.

newb: "I just started a week or so ago with my Joye starter kit. I'm looking for something better. Any suggestions?"

Vaper: "Just get a Provari mini with some AWR IMR 18630 batts an Aga T atty and maybe a PT2 or some kind of BCC."

newb: "whiskey tango foxtrot did he just say???"

I've been vaping for a few months now and it was hard at first but it gets easier. I started off with an ego battery and Kanger T3. I believe that is the eaiest way to start. Best way to learn is go to seller website and take a look at the products. When you see something you like Youtube the products. Youtube really helped me with understanding what is what and how it works. I think that was the greatest help on my vaping knowledge. Now Im all about the Mech mods and RDA's. I love the how rebuilding and know that I created the coil and it works great because of me. On top of that the RDA's give out great flavor of the juices. Also a great way to keep up with new products subscribe to Grimmgreen, PBasardo and Toddreviews.

Best to lurk as much as you can. There is much to know so empower yourself and safe-guard yourself against misinformation. we were all noobs once but we learned bc we had the will. the better you know the terminology, the better you can describe issues you run into as well as sharing good experiences. you're not going to learn it all at once so take your time and have fun with it. my favorite part of this hobby is that your pv and vape experience are customizable.

Somewhere out there
It can be a tangle to unravel for newbies. I remember the same thing when I first started out. I did make up this pic and it has alot of abbreviations and some pics of things to vape with, I thought maybe it would help show and tell a bit :) bnrk VAPElogoSMALL.jpg

I certainly didn't mean this site or the folks involved here. It's only natural to use the jargon when speaking with those who know it. It's just noob fever for sure, and I will recover. The simple fact that I didn't get flamed for my post shows how helpful folks here can be. No arrogance, or impatient replies. All positive!

I've been looking at "The Wonderful World of Vaping" and am starting to feel more informed. There's even a guide on inhaling!! Now that I would have never considered!

I can recall not too long ago when I would have read that sentence and understood exactly NONE of it. Now, I recognize all the references and acronyms.

Thanks ECF!

RDA = rebuildable dripping atomizer.
Mech mod = mechanical mod.

Shoot! I think this is a good thread. I'm just starting into this myself and learning the jargon can leave you scratching your head at times. But you pick up things here and there. Thanks Robino for solving my RDA question. I've been woundering what that ment. There are still things that I don't understand. But at this point I know just enough to get me in trouble.
Right now I'm into the DIY mixing (mixing my own e-juice). You get to know what it means when people write "Oh I made a mix of 75/25 12mg 10% TFA Choc. and it wasn't too bad". Then someone else writes "Yeah I love The Flavor Apprentice flavors". Then someone will ask "Did you have to cut your 12mg nicotine from a stronger bace?". Then someone else will chime in "I would figgure that 10% chocolate flavoring would be a bit much". And someone else may put "I like my PG/VG mix to be more on the 40% PG 60% VG side". By putting all that together you'll know that what the origional poster had said was that he (or she) made a mix of 75% PG 25%VG with 12 milligrams of nicotine and flavored it with 10% of The Flavor Apprentice's chocolate flavoring.
You just have to read into it. I've been addicted to these forums for days now...LOL.
