I got a little confused over the vape terms, hardware terms, used in the forums and having zero knowledge & experience on vaping

Is there a good starting point to read up (i.e, terminology list, hardware & components of vaping devices, etc...)

Sorry if seem lazy, i'm sure the information is in the forums, but i'm finding it in bits & pieces so far... thanks in advance!

Hello and welcome to the forum @wlcling. Glad to have you here!:)

If you are interested in learning more about e-cigarettes (and all the parts and pieces) below are some blog posts by ECF member @Baditude that I highly recommend for someone new to vaping.
Here are a few more links from New Members Information <= Link covers many topics. Here are two of them:
Nicotine

A "general guideline" for nicotine concentration in e-liquid to the number of cigarettes smoked per day. If you are subohming (resistance under 1.0Ω) cut these nicotine levels by at least 50%.

06 mg = 10 cigarettes or less
12 mg = 20 cigarettes
18 mg = 30 cigarettes
24 mg = 40 cigarettes

eLiquid/Juice

PG = Propylene Glycol - the "flavor carrier" of e-liquid. A secondary source of "throat hit", but not as strong as the nicotine concentration. Some people have a sensitivity or even an allergy to PG. It's very thin.

VG = Vegetable Glycerin - the "vapor maker" of e-liquid. Used as a sweeter in many food sources, and also as a skin emollient. It's very thick. Often labeled just "Glycerine"

PG and VG are often used together in different ratios in e-liquid. For example, a 50/50 PG/VG ratio. Many juice vendors offer a range of different ratios as far as PG/VG.
another question to add:-
i know fb is a bad source of legitimate info, but i saw posts on vaping devices blowing up, etc...
with safety in mind, is there anything to look out for to avoid the same (safety first)
Most (if not all) of the reports have to do with people who buy mechanical mods and build (or use coils) that exceed the CDR (continuous discharge rating) of their battery/cell. Or use faux "hybrid top cap" mechanical mods with clearomizers/RTA's/RDA that do not have a protruding 510 pin.

@Baditude (my buddy bad has some great copy n paste pamphlets for NEWB vapers like yoself! enjoy!)

There was a time, back in the day, when I was young & sprite enough to sit here and CREATE a complete help-post especially made just-for-you. I would spend an hour, hour-&-a-half, sometimes two-hours, writing a longgg explanation of EVERYTHING you could possibly want to know about vape history, vaping, & vape future. lol. But that was a much-younger version of ME, there-fore, I pass this on-to my fellow ECF members.... This is in-part, due to the fact that I simply am NOT knowledgable when it comes-to TC-mode vaping as-of YET! I am sure that within the next few months I will be plenty educated on & in the world of Temperature Control Vaping Modes, however, as-for right now, I just am NOT the person to ask, unfortunately, my good vaping friend.

NOW, if you have any questions that my fellow vaper OG's, Vets, & Experts couldnot/didnot answer here, and you need the answer ASAP, PLEASE, PLEASE FEEL FREE to shoot me a lil PRIVATE MESSAGE, mmmmkay? You send ME a private message (aka PM) and I promise, I will respond in a quick, polite, and organized answer. (all for the low price of just 5 cents per sentence)

NOW THEN- I assume you are new to vaping & you need to figure-out a good mod, a good tank, and a good place to buy fairly cheap juice. Now, I suggest the Evic Mini VTC, or the Kanger Subox Mini mods, only because I own BOTH of these mods & I thoroughly enjoy each of them, thoroughly. As-for a tank, I can suggest the tanks that COME with the mods I suggested above, in their KITS. IE: the ego-ONE tank, or the Subtank, by Kanger. NOW, either tank will be fantastic. IF you would like to try vaping- Give a Smoktech RDA a shot, you dont HAVE to rebuild it, and you can enjoy it with the pre-installed coil, until that coil gets gunked-up/etc. I also recommend that you purchase yourself a 5 pack of COIL-HEADS for whichever tank you wind-up purchasing (or receiving in the box with your mod purchase) and I also suggest you purchase yourself AT-LEAST two 18650 batteries. I happen to personally recommend RED AW HIGH-DRAIN IMR-CHEMISTRY 18650 BATTERIES, cuz' i like um. :D But you could alternatively purchase PURPLE, BLUE, BLACK, GREEN, OR ORANGE BATTERIES! HOWEVER- We do NOT condone buying batteries from EBAY STORES, and we DO NOT condone buying batteries that ARE NOT PROVEN TO BE AUTHENTIC & BRAND-SPANKIN-NEW CELLS! PLZ, NEVER buy cells that COULD-BE USED... Our mods/PVs simply have the ability to stress rechargeable batteries WAY too much, which can cause explosion.... So please purchase your colored-batteries from an Approved ECF-Vendor, & please do ur best to ONLY purchase GENUINE AW-IMR, PANASONIC-IMR, SONY-IMR, EH-IMR, EFEST-IMR, &/or other genuine IMR HIGH DRAIN BATTERIES. DO-NOT go for an alternative chemistry battery with protection circuit, because it WILL cause you issues/fire/burns/smoke/death/etc. :( NOW THEN- A good RDA line to go-with would be the YUDE I-GO branded Rebuildable Dripping Atomizers. IF you would-like to experience and/or experiment with rebuilding a dripper atty, the IGO-L, IGO-W, or the IGO-W3, W4, W5 OR THE IGO-W6 are all FANTASTIC RDA's for a first-timer!!!! AND REMEMBER- IF YOU SHOULD CHOOSE TO REBUILD FOR YOUR VERY 1st TIME, make damn SURE that u use a REGULATED MOD WITH A SCREEN THAT WILLL TELL YOU If you have a SHORT in the atty, and which will tell you the OHMS AKA THE RESISTANCE OF YOUR COIL! PLZ, NEVER REBUILD A COIL ON-TOP OF A MECH-MOD, & then FIRE on said MECH-MOD without FIRST checking your resistance & checking to ensure this is not a SHORTED build!!!! This is both for yours & your family's safety, AND for the reputation & safety of our hobby & US VAPERZZZ... mk? MMMMMMmmmmmkkkkaaaayyyyyyy-THEN! :D

GLAD I could help, GLAD you enjoyed my help- & PLZ ENJOY your vape JOURNEY * ;)

Wow, I thought I would get blasted by replies like...

Use the search function dude
Just another person asking for spoonfeeding
Google it

But I was extremely wrong. You guys are nothing short of being extremely helpful!
Sound like you are from SG and have been over to the SG Vapors Forum.

Members mean well but they are not always helpful. While it's important to develop relationships over there (due to all the sourcing info that can get transmitted via PM once members get to know you), you'll find getting info on mods/tanks and DIY more readily available outside the SG Vapors sub-forum.

Have you yet purchased your first mod/tank? Have you developed any local contacts?

;) THIS is ECF, friend.... If you wanted "UTFS" posts, you should-of signed-up for VaperTawlk or VPRundrgrnd... lol. Just kiddin. I'm gonna wind-up catchin' slack for writing that, just watch... -____- ahaha. ANYHOOZERZ...

ENJOY ECF new friend, we are, as you've seen, very friendly & very helpful.
OH and that reminds me- if you dont love the idea/look of a mod + tank on-top...
Plz check-out REO'S-MODs forum, here on ECF, ma-dude.... Cauz' REO'S Mods, well, dey ROCK!
(The REO is my personal favorite mod of all-time, FYI, and, ppl fall in-love w/Reo's alll the time.
A REO is a squonk-box, and, instead of tank, u use a little atomizer, that u feed w/juice, by simply squeezing (aka squonking) a bottle INSIDE of the mod's body!!! (the bottle is next-to the battery. It's got a tube that extends down into the bottle of e-liquid, and that tube is connected to the atomizer connection. Wen you press on the little bottle of e-liquid, the juice travels UP the tube and INTO your atomizer. SO, that is an OPTION, along-side the mod + tank that MOST people use on a daily basis, as their ADV APV (alldayvape, advancedpersonalvaporizer) lol. ENJOY!

This is why forums are so special. We look after each other. Of the thousands of posts I have read, I've not heard of someone educated in vaping doing something like blow their mod up. Things do go wrong, sure, but they just get blown out of proportion.
