I recently came across some Enercell 3V 1400mAh CR123 batteries. I'd really like to try out 6v and see if it'll push me to get a Grand/Cheap battery box to run 6v instead of my current 1.5 Cisco 3.7v setup.

I was thinking of running a wire from the bottom spring of the Mini to the bottom of two of these 3v batteries stacked. Then running a wire from the top of the batteries to a copper plate placed below the fire button. This way I can use the fire button rather than tapping a wire onto the top of the batteries or whatever other method I could use.

Could someone with some DIY/Modding experience comment on whether this would work as I plan for it to? This is of course only meant to be used for 5-10minutes to get a feel for 6V, not any transporting, etc.

You could do that. To add a little more stability on the cheap is to use a bit of poster board and tape to make a tube and push a long push pin through the top and bottom to connect the wires to. Just be careful with any battery stacking (standard safety message).

I'm slightly confused by the idea although I think I will use some sort of middle man between the batteries and fire button/spring. What I had came up with after reading your idea was having 2 push pins, one coming out of the bottom and top of the "tube." Then connect a wire with electrical tape to each side of the battery ends, and wrap that wire around each respective push pin on the ends. Then wire from the push pins into however I decide to go about running it through the Mini.

Figuring out ways to get this to work best is making me more and more inclined into making a cheap DIY mod on my own as a hobby.

All said and done, I'm just glad Reos are all mechanical. Worst case I'll install a new spring and fry an Atty. Not a big price to pay compared to frying something leaving the mod in heavy need to repair.
