Well, I'm not really a noob to vaping, but I've been putting off posting for long enough.

I just got a Texas Tuff tank from vapedudes, and I was wondering about how you're supposed to properly fill it the first time, or with a new cartomizer. I've had bad luck with previous DCTs, but with the double-punched cartos I shouldn't get the same problems... I hope, haha.

The first time I fill it, is it really just as simple as unscrewing the thumbscrew on the side and syringing it full of juice? Or do I need to do anything with the carto? Assume I'm completely a noob to properly using cartos in general, as I'm sure there's a step I've been missing.

I'm stuck at work so unfortunately youtube vids can't help me, I'm hoping to have this guy working for me for my smoke break, haha.

As posted it's very important to first fully saturate the carto- key in the vid below, when pushing carto down into condom of juice, is to do it slowly. If the pre punched carto has a flange put the mouth end of carto into condom.

Also realize with tanks sometimes there's either a negative or positive pressure buildup which can result in flooding or poor wicking. When the tank becomes 1/2 empty unscrew the thumbscrew to relieve/ equalize the pressure.
Good Luck.

Do these things work with ego CE4+?
How do you mean? The CE4+ is a clearomizer, you would use it in place of the tank or vice versa. And if you meant would it work on an eGo battery, I'm sure it would, but you probably wouldn't get enough vapor. I'm using it on my VTube at 4.5-5v and getting good vapor and if I'm not mistaken the eGo batteries run at 3.7v.

And thanks vapoor eyes er and synnuh, I've got this thing working great now! I'm getting the occasional dry hit, in which case I'll either open the thumbscrew hole for a few seconds or drip a little bit of juice into the top of the cartomizer - one or the other typically fixes it up.

I just bought a texas tuff tank for the ego ce4+ and it works with it. I'm not clear about filling up the carto though. I need to prime it first, so I guess I just unscrew the mouth piece and fill up the top part with the cotton material? (there's a black wire in it).

Impossible...the Texas tuff tank has to be used with a cartomizer.
The ce4+ is the tank, wick and element all in one with no filler.

Glad to hear you got it going. Occasionally negative pressure will build up in the tank and you'll have to remove the screw to depressurize it. Bubbles in the carto hole and/ or dry hit accompanies this issue.
Different vendor but same tank- 1/2 way down page:
"Quick-tip - once its half empty you can depressurize it by removing the screw for 15 sec. This alows E-liquid to flow into the carto freely to help prevent a dry hit. Another tip for a dry carto - take the screw out and vape normally until you hear gurgling, replace screw and continue vaping. This tip can lead to flooding if done too long but works great for those rare cartos that just don't want to absorb e-liquid. Hope this helps!"

I used the side screw tank before switching to clearos and loved it.
Cheers.

Different delivery systems:
atomizer/ atty- an element on to which 3-4 drops of juice is dripped
cartridge/ cart- a container with sponge (filled with juice) that is used with the atty- juice drips on to atty from cart and is vaporized
cartomizer/ carto- metal tube with stuffing and element.
carto+tank- a carto with a hole punched in it. Carto is than placed in a glass, metal or plastic tank which is filled with juice- juice saturates carto by way of hole in carto.
Clearomizer- a plastic or metal tank with a wick and element. Contains NO stuffing.
Here's an Ecig glossary with "most" terms:

I'm pretty sure I'm doing it correctly. I'm still a newb. I think the carto is included in the tank (I'm not entirely sure what a carto is). This is the one I bought: Texas Tuff Tanks - Tuff PRO3

Yeah. I was using clearomizer, but they kept breaking down from cinnamon redhot juice. So I tried the texas tuff tank. Which I think has a tank, w/ cartomizer inside and a filling hole on the side. The metal tube in the center of the tank has two holes in the bottom to soak up juice. I also noticed a white filling if I take off the mouthpiece and dripped a few drops in there to prime it.

Yes it's a carto/ tank system. First fill of the carto is VERY IMPORTANT before you put it in the tank. The PBusardo vid explains it well. For non acidic juices I use the clearo but for acidic juices I use a carto. Even the plastic carto tanks were cracking- supposedly this issue is resolved with the new plastic but time will tell.
