It's been a loooong day and I still need to get my shower. Then I need to mentally prepare myself to go back to work tomorrow after being off for a week. I'll catch you cats later...

I was just reading about the devastation of those storms and it was reminding me of the aftermath of a hurricane when I read this

he Friday evening storms, a meteorological phenomenon known as a derecho, moved quickly across the region with little warning. The straight-line winds were just as destructive as any hurricane — but when a tropical system strikes, officials usually have several days to get extra personnel in place. Not so this time.

"Unlike a polite hurricane that gives you three days of warning, this storm gave us all the impact of a hurricane without any of the warning," Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley said Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union.

Disasters like this are very humbling to most. It puts everyone at the exact same level whether they are rich, poor or in between. Their assets are exactly the same in most cases.

Hey salem, here's some "pets" you would enjoy. These guys and gals are real "hams" and love to pose for the camera. That barn is where those two crazed cats live but I couldn't find them when I went to take these pics. Their around somewhere and for sure, up to no good! You know how cats are ....

Believe it or not, the only animal that I fear is horses lol We had a farm with race horses (huge) when i was very young. My dad used to think it funny to put me up on their back even though I was terrified.

We also had a mule named Pedro. I was in the apple orchard one day and fed him an apple. Nobody told me to keep my hand open so my fingers got munched on lol I am afraid of horses :(

My neighbor with the organic farm has horses and stuff. They roam right up to her front porch. I went there to get veggies once and when she put the veggies in my bag, the darn horse followed me to my car! She kept saying "he just wants to know what you have in the bag" lol I never went back!

ETA- This poor guy was actually a rescue. His former owner smacked him in the nose with a 2x4. He has so much scar tissue/copd that he can not eat hay or dusty foods :( I feel horrible for him but am still afraid.

She also raises organic chickens and Turkeys for meat. She gets her daughters friends to come over and help her kill, pluck and clean them but then she has other chickens and turkeys, roosters that are pets. I could never, ever do that even if I had to! I guess that I would be vegetarian.

Happy Sunday night gang!
I was just stopping by to back read & I saw this post from Salem...who, I've realized is my secret twin sister! &
I am afraid of horses too! I thought it was just me. A small shetland or pony or something bit me when I was a kid
& I've been terrified of them ever since. Sigh.

I'm also afraid of cats, but that is a whole other story!

But the horses still know me and will come to me to be saddled and I never have to call them or chase them.

Their all very gentle and are what we have taught some of the grandkids and "town" kids to ride on.

My neighbors grandkids ride her horses. I know that they are very gentle and sweet. It is a psychological thing with me that I just never could get past. If I were around them alot, I bet that I could do it though :)

I thought that you said you had given them away. Is that the father of your grandson that breaks the horses in?

Yes, that's the man. His son, my grandson Layne is probably one of the very best ropers/riders in this part of the country. This boy has always excelled at all sports and is a real young gentleman. He plans on being a Game Warden after he finishes college. And I suspect he'll make a good one.
