My daily vehicle is a short wheel base 4X4 5 Speed stick. I'm occasionally finding myself losing my grip on my REO Mini when shifting or resting my hand on the shifter while going over off road terrain. There's no texture to the aluminum to promote more friction between it and my fingers so going over bumps, rocks, downed trees, or whatever happens to be in the way causes the mini to slip out of my hand when I'm using the shifter.

I'm wondering if the woodvilles are polished smooth or if they still have a little wood texture or grain to them.

I'm also wondering if anyone has a really good idea about adding some texture to the aluminum REO to promote less possibility of dropping. I thought about a few strips of pressure tape (it's got a rubbery texture), but I don't think it will stick to the smooth aluminum very long. Has anyone needed to texturize their REO a little?

Hi six :)
Good question. I recently received a gift of a leather cover for a mini that seems to be pretty comfortable to hold...but I haven't experienced your situation so I don't know if this would be helpful to you.
The woods have a nice finish that is in my opinion, rather smooth...so I'm not sure they would be any more "sticky" in your hand than a metal mod. I know this isn't as helpful as you would like...but its only my opinion. I'm thinking that a leather cover might be an option for you. Lets see what other users have to say. :)

They sell cool sheets of patterned duct tape that you can cut to fit and stick it on at Michaels. You would have enough to redo it many times. Maybe this week you want a digital camo one and maybe next week flames and maybe the following week black and white checkered and so on...........
They also sell rolls that you can just tear to fit.
Personal I think a Woodvil mini like the one in classifies right now would be the ticket before you spend $116 on duct tape though. Hope this helps :)
