I vape @ 18mg. Finally broke down and have a Rsst on the way. It seems everyone says using an rba is more potent than say a clearo. Should I go ahead and make a bottle at 6-10 mg, (I diy my juice) to give it time to steep, or is it over exaggerated? Opinions, sage-like wisdom, or valuable life stories appreciated.

You can't really generalize about TH with any type of device, whether it's a genesis, dripper, clearomizer, cartomizer, etc. Several things affect throat hit. Nic content, PG/VG ratio, power, air flow, etc. For example: I have a ZAP and a Cobra. Both are genesis type RBAs. The ZAP has a large air chamber, and a quite large stock air hole in the cap. The Cobra is the opposite. Small chamber; and the stock air hole is fairly small. The Cobra draw is tighter. With exactly the same juice, coil resistance, and wattage, the TH on the Cobra is noticeably more.

Not so much throat hit as the nicotine delivery to me imho. When I started vaping again I was on 12 mg and that was not enough for me but I forced my self to adjust to it. I quickly moved to RBA's with the AGA and RSST and 12mg was way too much. I got a nasty head buzz from it and had to drop my nicotine level down to 6mg. I would go to 3mg if more vendors sold it.

the most notable difference in TH for me is wire gauge. with my genesis devices and ceramic wicks I started with a 30g wire which produced a pretty good TH, I then moved to 28g and then 26g. I loved the flavor of the 26g but didn't like a couple of other things that went with it. for one as the wire gauge decreased the lag time increased, also as the wire got thicker the TH was considerably less. so imo its all about the wires temperature.

The nice thing about most genesis tanks is that you can adjust the air hole to suit your likes. Directly on the coil produces more vapor but not as much TH (at least in my experiences) whereas moving the air hole away from the coil will give more flavor and TH, but less vapor. It is really a matter of finding a position you like best.
As for nic level, I used 18mg for a long time but my first genny with that level would put me on the floor in minutes. I DIY to about 10mg now and vape happily with no ill effects. Again- just a matter of fining what suits you best!

Yeap.. I will echo here..

It all depends on what kind of setup you end up building. You can build a weak vaping RBA if you want to. Statistically speaking you will likely end up wanting to lower your nic. A well built, well performing RBA is going to vaporize a lot more effectively.

Once I started building coils that actually functioned I went from 18-24mg down to 12 almost immediately.

Also TH depends on many more factors than nic level.

Coil design, airflow and wire temperature matter more...

And it's all trial and error... Expect to build a new coil every day or two for at least a couple weeks... Then you'll home in on what you personally prefer.

My TH is awesome with both RBAs and RDAs (much better than previous devices and I've tried them all). The key for me was switching to 28 awg coils (from 32). It's interesting though that TH is something you adjust to. I used to think my TH was awesome vaping on stardusts on a spinner. My vaping buddy at work stayed with the egos and clearos, and he recently took a small puff of my 0.6 ohm RBA and he nearly coughed up a lung. He vapes 18mg 70/30 and I'm at 12mg 50/50. He couldn't believe the difference. "Too strong for me" he said. :)

Buy a 6mg and 0mg of the same flavor and mix equal amounts and you'll have your 3mg.
