So should I be looking to change the ones I got in 2012???
IDK either. I have like 30+ springs for the 2s, another 30+ for the P3s. Yet... I've never had to change a spring in any of 'em. On top of that, while I've never had a 2.(X) fail, out of the 6 P3s that I had in rotation (now down to 2, the rest are in storage + never used P3s which I just purchased to stockpile, tested, yup they work, re-packed), 4 of them have gone back to ProVape due to hardware failures.
Official ProVari 3 Thread - P3 *PART 2*
None of 'em were failures that a spring is gonna fix, they required circuit-board swaps due to component failures.
The P3 Ti is one of my top 5 favorite mods of all time. But... my faith that it will Just Work for years and years and years, like the 2s did, is not that high. At least not based upon my own personal experience.
Other than component failures (which aren't that rare on the P3, at least not mine), the top cap and the "self-adjusting center pin" which seems to mostly just be an O-ring, also fails. I've sent 'em back to get it replaced/fixed, and am unsure if this something that you could DIY by just buying another O-ring or not. The 2s with their fixed-pin and slanted top caps were much less sexy looking/cool, but none of them ever failed.
This is in no way meant to dis ProVape's quality; it's exceptional, so is their customer service; but if I have 3 P3s... I, personally, would be happy if they last 5 years between all of 'em. I do not think they have years and years and years of trouble-free life in their future, if ProVape's service department ceases to exist. And I do not think a spring is gonna save me (although, if I didn't have the springs, then there's a 100% chance that's what would fail ;-)
