Defective Squape

Yet another defective fast tech product... Surprise, surprise...

1.6 Ohm resistance between Center Pin and Positive Terminal which has to be near 0.0 Ohm

See for your self:

Also:
fasttech kayfun 3.1 and Taifun GT are full of surprises.
Finally, I had my two defective Kayfun’s 3.1 replaced by FT. The original order was placed on Dec. 20/2013. Today is March 5/2014 and I received my replacements today. The reason I had them replaced because they were shorting right in the 510 connection of it. See Picture.

I thought the replacements would be better? Wrong. They are worse. Both have the same shorting problem, but this time I figured out why: The center screw that serves as a positive connector fits in the insulator very loosely, thus allows for access play causing the head of the screw touch the side wall and create “Short Circuit”. I pulled a little tiny plastic tubing over the screw and that fixed the problem.
Not to mention that both units were very dirty. I even found a few metal shavings inside left from when they were machined. In one of them, the deck’s positive terminal was loosely swinging back and forth touching the negative terminal. Trying to tighten the center pin didn’t help because the metal wall of the deck on one of them was thinner than the other. And the tube of the plastic insulator protruded too far inside the deck not allowing to tighten the positive terminal firmly. I had to file that tube down to make it work. I don’t know if you can see that on my picture, but the top tube of the chimney is expended for some reason (again, only on one of the units) and that tube does not fit in the O-ring of the top cap, and of course, the O-ring was missing, because there is no way you could put it together without damaging the O-ring. I had to fix that problem too by sanding the chimney and finding an O-ring. I’m not going to have these Kayfuns replaced by FT because there is no use in it.

I don’t know who the manufacturer of this product is. I know it NOT EHPRO because I have one from them and it is way better made with no logo though, but with the bottom Fill Screw. I know it is NOT HCIGAR because I have one of those too and they are much better quality clones 1:1. I hope it is NOT ToBeCo, because I own other products of ToBeCo and no complaints.
Does anyone know who makes Fast Tech KayFun 3.1? The worst Kayfun I have ever seen.
I also had a Fast Tech Taifun GT replaced because the one I originally received had no threads under one of the Terminal screws. That’s right: Not Stripped threads – NO threads. Just a hole in which the screw was inserted all the way and would fall out if you flip it upside down. I posted Product Review on it but Fast Tech didn’t publish it. My replacement didn’t have that problem, but it had another: The collapsible chimney would not collapse. It is so snug that I’m afraid to brake it if I fours it too much. And by too much – I mean: put it on the floor and step on it or squeeze it in a vise. Everything else I already tried – no use. I built it anyway with SS Mash wick and 0.01X0.08 Flat Kanthal ribbon to 0.7 Ohms, put it on Chi You and I love it! Hard to work without being able to collapse the chimney though… But for $19.95 and Free Shipping – I’m going to keep it.

My thoughts exactly. fortunately you seem to be crafty and solved the issue with a modicum of work —and a lot of teeth grinding probably. ;-)

I'm waiting for one and started to cross my fingers I don't get one made on Saturday (or whatever day the Chinese start their weekend). Won't know until some five to six weeks from now. I really hope the hype is true.

it should not be so often that their getting it right is considered exceptional.

Americans are spoiled! ;)

Living SOB (South Of {the} Border), teaches you to take chance as a form of life. On every single one of my imports I cross my fingers that some tardy at customs doesn't tamper with the goods.

Ive had photographic paper boxes (the old, darkroom processed kind) of 100 large sized sheets opened for inspection. Ditto pipe tobacco tins manufactured in the US, vacuum sealed tea from the UK opened for inspection. The paper was prominently labeled as Darkroom Conditions Only DO NOT OPEN. It was of course ruined. I couldn't claim from UPS as it was over a month when I needed to use it. The tobacco and tea weren't ruined but I was forced to consume them immedeately. The reasons for opening the vacuum sealed tobacco tin are still obscure to me, I though marihuana went from here to the US, not the other way around! ;)

If I could get what I need or want on these geographic longitudes I would most certainly opt for it, even at nearly triple the expense. However, some items like (e.g.) a Kayfun 3.1 just are not available but in China unless you happen to have a nephew in the top tier vaping trade.

I've learned to take that as a staple of life and live with it.

I used to correspond with someone in Brazil. Same kind of deal.

Most of the world infact. If not that, just check the prices they pay in Europe, very often on goods manufactured in their own countries. In Germany they pay the same amount of euros that an article manufactured there costs to an American in the US in dollars!

Here, a 2x3" piece of 400 SS mesh (enough for five wicks, says the vendor <g>) is announced at the only place that carries it at Mx$45 --with free shipping on orders over Mx$1500 <LOL!>

I would have bought some today even paying Mx$100 for shipping if the guys would've had it in stock. I'm still waiting for their reply to my q' on probable restocking, to see if I wait or order on the e-auction-place, and wait!

PS, current exchange rate is between Mx$13.50~13.90 per USD, depending on bank, PP or Amazon conversions. :(

If receiving your own order is like hitting the lottery, that's not the company for me. Sure, mistakes happen, but it should not be so often that their getting it right is considered exceptional.

Getting the correct stuff is NOT exceptional. On the contrary.

When mistakes happen, people come to the forums and complain. When normal things happen, they don't. So you don't hear about the 99/100 normal deliveries, you generally only read about the 1/100 mistake. Moreover, if that 1/100 mistake comforts any stereotypes or prejudices you might have in your brain about ordering from "furreners", it is naturally magnified dozens of times in your mind.

FT has thousands and thousands of customers, all over the whole wide world. I myself have ordered things about 40 times over the last 10 months, and with one exception that was not FT's fault, all my stuff has arrived normally.

I have received EVERY order (30-40), undamaged, and exactly as advertised , from FT, for about a year now...I know its in China, and I always plan ahead and know delivery will usually be 12-25 days from the day of FT shipment to the postal carrier...and I don't watch the trackers , except as a general guide, now and then, when I know its should be getting close to delivery time which varies based upon which shipper I choose at checkout...there is NO lottery, U will get your package and in a time frame expected from China..

why can't we all just get along...
I can't remember the last time I witness so much hostility in this forum. We are all vapers and customers here. We all have things in common with one another and we have all had great and not so great experiences in our life, related and unrelated to vaping. We all need to vent at times, sometimes it may seem unreasonable, but there is still no reason to be hateful towards one another.

No, I'm not a hippie nor a tree hugger, just a human like all others. By the way, my father in law is a hippie, so I'm not hating here.

I didn't expect to receive all the hostile responses I got in this thread....but I clearly understand why. People get upset when they feel like something they like is being 'attacked', or 'challenged'. Sometimes the truth hurts.

You see it all the time on these forums. If someone has a negative experience with a vendor, an e-liquid, a mod, or a delivery device.....you always see a bunch of people gang up on that person, and blame the PERSON for the negative experience, instead of the vendor, or hardware, or whatever.

If someone is attached to something, whether it be a vendor, or hardware, they feel subconsciously it is an extension of themselves. So naturally, people who cherish fasttech (only god knows why they would) are going to feel like this thread was attacking them, which it wasn't.

Anyway, my experience is NOT isolated. I've met and talked to quite a few people who have had negative experiences with fasttech. Whether it be longer than normal delivery times (even for ordering from China), wrong products in the order, scratched/dented/damaged hardware, you name it.

I am NOT bashing fast tech. My PERSONAL experience was negative, and I will never order from them again, but that doesn't mean other people should take this personally.

I PERSONALLY would rather spend the extra few dollars, and order my clones, or drip tips, or hardware from the USA vendors that I hand pick. I will get it shipped to me in less than a week, they will speak clear ENGLISH, they will have excellent communication skills and time, and I will actually feel like they care about me, they value me as a customer. This is the case for ALL of the vendors I currently use, and this is why they get my repeat business.

Good for you! I prefer too doing business within the borders of my country whenever I can find the goods I want even paying double or more for the privilege. Unfortunately having a rether poor economy and thus a small market, that's the exception rather than the norm; thus, I'm forced to get things abroad.

When I find a dealer in the US that takes the bother to ship to Mexico, I go for that. Failing that I bite the bullent and pray for the best. Usually, I get what I ordered (eventually) although five or six weeks is not uncommon. Not the shipper's fault in the huge majority of the cases as I've been able to verify by the mail stamps, but our own customs and mail system. So, no feud there.

I just got a mod that I ordered from the UK (of all places!) six weeks ago as I couldn't find an American vendor who carried it and was willing to ship abroad; only to find it came from China. A nice card included in the package explained that, but the vendor failed to warn me in advance.. The posting just said "in stock" and "shipping in two business days". :(

Had I known that beforehand I wouldn't have ordered. Mexico has a FT agreement with the UK and the EU but packages originating in China are subject to rigurous scrutiny and taxing. So much for "fair trade practices".

Thanks.

Honestly, I am NOT one of the "Grrr....Must be Made In America" type of guys. I personally think having an open market with other countries is a positive thing, although I AM against things like US corporations using cheap labor in other countries, effectively moving the jobs out of our country.

However, companies like fast tech do a great SERVICE to the vaping community, in my opinion. As I've mentioned several times, they fill a niche that is NEEDED. They offer SUPER low prices. This creates more competition, and prevents US-based companies from charging TOO much.

Without companies like fast tech, the US companies that sell clones and basic drip tips and what not would probably be tempted to have higher prices......but because of companies like fast tech, they have to keep their prices within range in order to compete. This is a GOOD thing.

Companies that produce clones do the same thing for the vaping economy. They prevent manufacturers from charging TOO much.

As a consumer, I am very picky, and I am careful who I buy from. I don't regret trying fast tech, however my personal experience was not a good one by any measure, and it was a learning lesson. :)

Ditto... :) In my case -with my ever more dwindling memory- I even forget I had ordered something when it arrives at my desk. Sometimes just out of curiosity I check the stamps on the package only to find transit from China to Mexico was only one week out of the total six the parcel took to delivery. The other went to customs, in country mail and local sorting.

funny enough the stuff manufactured in asia is cheaper than stuff manufactured here(stationed in germany)
but either way a simple ego here is stupidly priced

It's very rare that a post makes me angry, but you have managed to.

Because this is a civil forum, I will not say what I think of someone who receives an order, obviously sent to him by mistake, and proceeds to post so proudly about his total ignorance of what mature, responsible, thinking people do when they receive something in the mail that clearly does not belong to them.
A post on the interwebz made you angry? lol.
