Thanksgiving story contest ends 11/23/13

The turkey looked over to the rabbit and winked, then turned and shook his golden tail feathers at him .............
...and out dropped a Golden Egg!!
The turkey motioned to the map, and then scratched at the ground...
"I think she wants us to put the map on the ground", said Alice. So Gregory placed the map on the ground in front of the Turkey... who rolled her egg onto the map and then settled down on top of it.
All of a sudden the ground started to shake and rumble, and the turkey jumped off of the egg!! It was spinning around on top of the map... opening up a giant hole in the ground below.
The rabbit said "Ahhh... this is something I know all about" and with a flick of his tail, jumped right into the hole!!
Gregory and Alice looked at each other and shrugged... "Oh, what the heck??" and holding hands, they both jumped into the hole together...
It was a portal!! And it was going to take everyone back to where they belonged. ..home! Well at least that's what was supposed to happen.
Flying through the portal and still holding hands, Gregory and Alice could barely hear each others voices. "Is this going to work dad?" Yelled Alice. "I sure hope so," responded Gregory. "I've been through enough travelling for a lifetime! "
Just then everything stopped almost as if they were in the eye of the tornado. But they weren't! They were back in the under water land that Gregory first tripped his way into.
"Oh no." Thought Gregory. ..."well at least Alice is with me...".......

After his panic subsided Gregory realized that instead of spinning down now the the water vortex he first fell through was spinning upwards. He yelled to Alice to take a deep breath, gripped her hand tightly and jumped into the whirling column of water. Up they went, spinning and rising, the watery tornado slowly growing brighter until they finally stopped spinning and found themselves bopping in a gentle pool, their faces being warmed by the sun. Gregory pulled his daughter close, kissed her forehead and said "Alice, I do believe we are home".
But wait... that would be too easy!! There is still a Thanksgiving celebration to be held...
They knew they were home, because their dogs came out to greet them, and the smell of Auntie Grace's Cranberry Walnut Pie was wafting toward them as they lay on the ground, being licked by their dogs.
They walked together, hand in hand toward the house, and all the family and relatives were at the huge dining room table, and broke out into loud clapping and squeals of delight when they saw Alice and Gregory. It was truly a day for giving thanks.
On the table was a 30 lb. Turkey, Turkey Gravy, Mashed Potatoes with Herb Butter, Maple Bourbon Sweet Potatoes with Pecans, Green Beans with Hazelnuts and Shallots, Bread Pudding, Cranberry Sauce, Maple Mincemeat Turnovers, Cinamon Bun Apple Cobbler, and a few fine bottles of dessert wine that tasted like Plums and Dates.
And of course, their "weird" Uncle Beck brought his usual odd fare becasue he had travelled the world, and liked weird stuff, so he made Turkey Perogies, Baked Ham California Rolls, Hot Dog Cookies, Deep Fried Pickles, and Potato Chip Sugar Cookies.
It was the best Thanksgiving anyone could remember.

Although they still had to explain how Alice hadn't aged a day since she disappeared, and that Gregory was suddenly 50 years younger... aaaah, but that is a story for another day!!!
And since the Contest officially ended last night... I just want to wish everyone Good Luck!!
