I thought it might be nice to express our thanks each day this week instead of just on the big Turkey Day.

My plans are to go to my friend Maggie's on Thursday...and especially thankfully for that since this is the first Thanksgiving without my sister and she always had it at her house. My brother-in-law is going to KY to be with his granddaughter and great-grandkids, so I'm also especially thankful that he'll be with them to help him through "the first without her."

OK, I'll bite.

Thankful I still have a good job...or any job, for that matter.

Thankful I lived to see another holiday season.

Thankful my newly-diagnosed COPD is (so far) being well-managed with meds and my quality of life has improved.

Thankful I live in Florida where I spent last weekend planting impatiens in the garden. Ditto this weekend for the petunias. My Christmas decoration? A pink plastic lawn flamingo in a Santa outfit. Seriously!

Thankful I found good friends like all of you to share this wacky hobby/obsession with!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

I'm of course thankful for everything we have, job, warm home, family etc. But this Thanksgiving I'm especially thankful that my oldest son and his new wife have moved back home to our town. He's been living in Florida for the past 6 years and I've missed him terribly. While I won't get to see him on Thanksgiving day due to his having to work, I'm very thankful that he's once again close by and I'll be able to spend more time with him. :)

Well, thought I'd update - I'm happy to have worked the shuttle landing today. Even thought I froze my ... off this morning, it was beautiful! Clear skies, brisk wind, but nice landing all round. I just got home a few hours ago, and found out my Chuck battery mod is done and on its way to my door! Yay!

The holiday season should rock now! And it will warm up here in FL - it always does here!

I was especially thankful because this is the first Black Friday in 20 years that I did not have to get up at 4 AM to be at work by 5 AM. I recently retired from Wal-Mart after 20 years and I wasn't even tempted to go to the sales this morning. There is a lot of ugliness in retail especially during peak holiday shopping season.

Hopefully, I will be able to enjoy Christmas for what it is, instead of through the eyes of retail.

Beckah, I wrote words to the song 'God rest you merry gentlemen" for this very reason! I hated the "season" when I worked retail! The destruction in toys..where ARE the parents? The wholesale trashing in the Women's Department..clothes thrown on the floor, dirty diapers in the dressing room , half full sodas balanced on the clothes racks, opened packages of socks and underwear, I mean how long have these women been married to that old fart..don't they know the size of his feet and .... by now! The husbands whining, the kids crying and yes, a Pregnant woman who's water broke and refused to stop shopping!
My all time favorite was the naked man who ran out of the dressing room because he lost his teeth while pulling a sweater over his head....his false teeth! They got stuck in the sweater he was trying on, while he was using his teeth to help pull the sweater over his head. But why didn't he have any pants or underpants on? He went to jail for flashing...Nothing to write home about anyway..8-o

Oh the song:
holiday16.gif

God rest you merry gentleman
let nothing you dismay
Today is the last shopping spree before it's Christmas day
Go home and put your feet up
and have a nice cold beer
And be thankful it's over til next year, til next year
And be thankful it's over til next year!

What am I thankful for, My family, my friends and NOT EVER WORKING RETAIL AGAIN!

I am thankful for my family, my dog, my health, and you all!

We did the black friday thing.. pretty uneventful this year other then busy! We took my daughter along for her first black friday shopping experience hehe! During our foray, we stopped at a gas station, while waiting for the old man to come out a (young and obviously healthy) lady flew up in a SUV and parked her car in the handicapped spot near us.. then ran into the gas station. My daughter came up with a name for people like her lol BFB black friday (guess)
We got what we wanted and got home in a decent time, got the tree up before my daughter had to go to work (At walmart lol), and then had a lovely nap!!

I hope everyone has/had a safe and happy Thanksgiving weekend!!!
