hello all. i've been fake smoking (i can't bring myself to use the term "vaping") for 3 weeks now. i've had no desire to pick up real cigarettes since i started. hooray! problem is, in the past week and a half i have noticed a pronounced smoke-machine/stage fogger flavor. this is unpleasant for me mostly because i grew up around the theater and have disliked the smell/flavor of smoke-machines since i was very young.

concerning the e-cigarette's inner workings, i've read everything i can get my hands on, so i am aware of how the atomizer vaporizes PG (alot like a smoke-machine). my hope is that there's a way to avoid that strange, semi-sweet fogger flavor.

i'm open to any advice concerning how to avoid this funky situation. i can provide more detailed information about my fake-smoking process if it helps.

i know you guys will come through! thanks in advance. your informed posts and comments have already helped me immeasurably.

thanks pbusardo, for your snappy response. without bias, here's a list of the juices i've tried. the starred entries are the juices which produce the smoke-machine flavor:

johnson creek tobacco flavor medium nic - clogs my machine. my favorite flavor, but low vapor production

johnson creek black cherry flavor med nic - clogs my machine. meh flavor, low vapor production

totally wicked camel flavor high nic - foul, horrid flavor, best vapor production.

*truesmoker RY 4 flavor med nic - blechh flavor, med vapor production

*truesmoker cappucino flavor high mic - meh flavor, very good vapor production

i'm waiting on some straight-out-of-china juices to be delivered today.

what are your suggestions? my main concerns are vapor production first, flavor a close second.

cheers!

I am loving my red bull from i have no idea since they don't put a label on the bottle and my memory sucks. It has the best vapor i have seen and good red bull flavor. Never get the fog machine flavor like i did from some others (tobacco flavors mostly)

http://www.dietsmokes.com/products/Parked's-Nicquid.html thats it DietSmokes under "Parked's nicquid"

This is my personal favorite.

Hmm I wonder if that’s the same flavor/smell I'm getting with my Ecopure. Just started vaping yesterday and must admit these things could definitely help me to drop the analogs...if I could get over that smell/taste. I say it like that because it tastes exactly like it smells (both the rich and the gold flavors) and the smell seems to stick to everything and not go away. My office actually smelled faintly like it when I walked in there this morning. It’s like a ...I don’t know chemical or maybe plastic type smell? Never run across anything quite like it, and while it doesn't curl your nose hairs or make you nauseas....every time I smell it I fully expect it to. I had a friend of mine try it out (he’s still waiting for his shipment to come in) and he had the same complaints so I don’t think it’s just my palette. Has anyone noticed this? Do all of the liquids have that same base smell/taste? Is it common for liquids to leave a lingering odor in a room?

Ryan,

What you may be experiencing is the primer fluid that comes with most attys since it is so new. You can try blowing it out then dripping a couple of drops of juice or wait for it to wear off. LOL I used to smoke so much that I rather enjoyed the rough primer fluid taste and missed it when it was gone initially.

I thought that might be it as well, but the problem is it smells exactly like what the fluid in the bottle and carts smells like. I'm sure the primer on the atty (if I haven't vaped it off completely by now) isn't helping...but I'm pretty sure thats not the root of the problem. Though I am still forcing myself to "vape through it" to see if it clears up but I have to really make myself light the thing and deal with it.

Primer is probably not helping. If you mean that slightly thick and sweet smell, I always thought that was the nicotine itself because it reminded me of the smell of the nicotrol inhaler. I also think it depends on the juice. Try looking around for samples from different vendors to see what agrees with you more or even going VG.

NuVape has samplers, as does Ruyan Direct and Rocky Mountain. I am sure many more will come along with suggestions.

Ecopure is VG based, I do have a sampler coming from JC now to try some of the nontobacco flavors (and PG vs VG) to see if I like them any better. Just waiting for the ol pony express again with my fingers crossed. Thanks for the prompt replies =)

LOL ok so it is not the 'fog machine' since that is exclusive to PG (it is used in creating theatrical fog).... I haven't heard a lot of good things about JC juice.

i guess i'm not alone. ursa, i've had the same experience, except the interval between refilling and fogger-taste is approx 5 min of casual (as in not voracious) fake-smoking. i just received a shipment from heaven gifts containing mint, coffee and chocolate - all high nic level. i'm very happy with the mint. i filled an empty cap (also cheep from HG) and didn't hit fogger-taste for almost a half hour. vast improvement. have more to say but will cut this post short.

I had that same trouble with the new Johnson Creek juice. There is a smell and taste that is horrible and lingers. I tried everything to get it out of my attys, but every juice after that still tasted and smelled like the JC juice. Its a sickeningly sweet smell and taste. YUCK! The only thing that remotely masked it was menthol. I think that might be your culprit.
